Man part of me says fuck anyone who wants to get rid of LW, he is such a beast when healthy, but I can still totally see why we would. I'd prefer not to trade him straight up for anything lower than a 3rd, if anything I'd like to see him used to trade up for someone the FO really likes.
Jets fans who put down Leons value and ability are people who realize that we are probably going to lose him and it's make them feel better to say that he's not that great. If ANYTHING, he's a great backup in case of an LT injury. Who do we have behind LT of any note?.....NOBODY!
This is based on what? It was broken bones. Side to side movement is something predicated by ligaments and muscle.
I just dont think he will come back the player that he was. Broken fibula, torn ligaments or whatever, I cant imagine him ever being able to cut on a dime like the Leon of old. Get a rookie.
Yeah maybe you missed my post about trading Leon on draft day to move and get McCluster, who can do the same things as Leon. And guess what? Leon isn't going to be what he used to be. not after a near career ending injury and he's not even running full strength yet. I don't let my love for players get in the way anymore.
I care about these contract battles for about 2 weeks and then I'm done with them. I love Leon, I think he's a great Jet, and really hope he's back for this season, but at this point I just want it to end regardless of the outcome. Tired of hearing about it. Sign or get out.
I've made my POV blatantly obvious on this topic numerous times. I want to keep him, he's one of my favorite if not the favorite Jet. That said I have this horrible feeling that he will not be playing with us this year. I'm sure Tanny still has some tricks up his sleeve for draft day.
The only thing that bothers me about LW is that it seems he's being a dick. Sign your tender and play your way to that big contract you're cryin' about.
Agreed. A RB's career in the NFL is incredibly short. He WAS a great player for us, but you can't reward someone with a fat contract without feeling totally comfortable that he will continue to produce. If another team wants to take that risk, give us a draft pick, and give in to his contract demands, let them. Otherwise, tell your agent to STFU, sign the tender, and show us what you can do on the field.
This is after them also expressing they wanna trade Ronnie Brown. Im taking this as the Fins found a replacement KR and HB. And they recently expressed they wanted Leon. I wouldnt be surprised if they make a big move @ Leon in the coming days
For this to work they would have to sign Leon's offer sheet and fork over a 2nd round pick to the Jets. I really don't see Parcells being willing to do that given everything else that the Jets have added this season. The only other option is to try to convince Leon to sign the tender through his agent so the can try and work out a trade agreement with the Jets for something less than a 2nd. I wouldn't be too happy about seeing Leon on the Dolphins for anything less than that. No do I think that Tannenbaum would be too happy about that, either.
True, unless Parcels feels that leon would be a key to their offense. I mean Miami does have a ground based offense built around quick short passes constantly running the ball and gimic plays. That combined with a need for a KR and Leon would likely fit very well into their offense. And theyd be taking a dynamic dangerous player away from a divisional rival and giving them a draftpick thatll land them an unproven rookie who could be successful or a bust. Plus I think if they nabbed Leon from us, it might help smooth things over with their fanbase being upset if we manage to get Taylor from them.
