He's a big play guy. Still skeptical about whether he can be an every down back, but he certainly has the speed, moves, and heart to be an effective back in this league.

Washington is a very nice pick. He will be a great back for years to come...

I still think the Houston will be our top RB next season...JMO

Leon Washington could be an exact duplicate of Brian Westbrook. By which I mean, if your going to pass the ball 75% of all downs, he can be your starting halfback, take 15-20 carries a game, 5 catches or so, and in a gameplan thats designed to get him in space, hell be a star.

The problem is that the rest of this team isnt built for that sort of an offense I dont think. In my mind, Pennington Coles and Cotchery need to be complemented by a strong running game. I want to see this team running the ball the way it did in 2004 when Martin won the rushing title, not throwing the ball every down. So to me, I want to see a more traditional halfback brought in to fill that role.

Basically what Im saying is, instead of having Barlow taking 20 carries for 40 yards every week in addition to what Washington gets, imagine having a guy like a Ronnie Brown or a Willis McGahee or a Laurence Maroney who will turn those 20 carries into triple digit yardage. All of a sudden, you dont see so much strain on the passing game to do all the work, and Pennington goes back to his 2002 and 2004 self, when his flaws were far less obvious.

On a side note. I for one will, in my head at least, be calling Leon Washington Leonard, because of that Chapelles show character Leonard Washington, who was equally excellent.

By the way - big ups to #45 of the Jets for having big brains. I'm sure his adrenaline was telling him to pave the road for Little Leon on the miracle shovel pass, but doing so would have caused a deadly "block in the back" penalty. Very good job of recognizing the situation and allowing the play to evolve naturally instead of trying to be the hero.

This guy has a home with us for awhile. He's a big part of our offense.

Leon Washington is no doubt the man, but are you kidding me RobA???

20+ carries and you guarantee 100 yards EVERYTIME?

If you didn't over project everything you wouldn't sound like an idiot...

    "Jets will go 13-3!"

"Leon will have a 100 yards if he gets 20 carries everytime!"

"Jay Fiedler can lead us to the superbowl!"

Leon had a big game today, but lets calm down a bit.

I don't even try to make arguments and justify whether Leon is an every down back or not. I let his actions speak for me and the volume is deafening! I'm too proud of the kid.

I honestly believe Leon Washington if the Jets allow him to improve his game & at the same time don't give up on him he can become involved in this offense. I'm not saying he is an everydown RB, but he is at this moment a 3rd down back at the same time you can plug him in anytime and he can make those plays like that big 4th quarter 64yd run.

I watched the plays this kid had around 5 or 6 times.

The kid just makes people look foolish absoloutley foolish, the amount of people who are jumping and just hitting the floor is ridiculous.

If he would of scored, best play in football this year.

    Amazing.

    Yup. Bruce Harper Lives!

And Bruce Harper was an amazing asset for the Jets for a half dozen years.

Yep. Sure looked like Leon Washington was channeling Bruce Harper last night!!

The kid is great, however the jury is still out on PR's and being an everydown back? I don't think you should drive a porsche everyday rain or shine. Draft a feature back to COMPLIMENT Leon only if Cedric proves he can't handle the job..

    BTW, whatever happened to Blaylock?

He's a 3rd down/COP back. If you haven't noticed, we can't throw it to the RB every time we want to give it to him. We still need someone who can carry the ball.

But i agree in the fact that when we need a big play, we should look his way.

You know what I meant. Obviously no nfl player will get 100 yds everytime he gets 20 carries. This kid can carry the load and be a feature back here. He's got the speed, power, and moves to get it done, he's a playmaker. Start him. He deserves it.
