    Get Leinart!!

He will be the franchise and everyone's new screen name. And He actually wants to play here! That's a new one.

Abe and next year's second (macairens anyone?) to trade up would be a steal or Steel!

We're not trading abe to the saints. We'll probably trade our first and a 2nd and a future 3rd.

Forget Leinart. The Saints could have had him -- they opted for Brees. Super Bowl QBs can be found places other than No. 1 or 2. The Jets need all the pics they can get in a deep draft, especially with so many holes on offense and needing 3-4 type players for the defense.

Everybody who wants to move up just think about the cost. When the Giants moved up for Eli they swapped a #1 gave up another #1 a #3 and a #5. Do you still want leinart if it costs anywhere in that ballpark?

I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY THE REASON THE PLAYER WAS GOOD IN COLLEGE WAS DUE TO SUPPORTING CAST!

HES GOING INTO THE NFL FOR GOD SAKES!! A BETTER SUPPORTING CAST WILL ONLY IMPROVE HIM

Shoot, in that case, I would have stuck with Bollinger.

Bollinger sucks. ramsey is a 6th rd insurace policy. but even if we draft a qb brooks may not be cut cause chad may not be ready for the season may start it in PUP list.

I say we go up there and get Leinart. I think this guy can be a franchise QB a la Carson Palmer.

If you want to see a bust, just look at Vince Young, whom has Akili Smith written ALL OVER him.

You are missing the point of that statement. Leinart's supporting cast in college was far superior to that of the USC's opponents. A superior offensive line with superior receivers and running backs makes the QB's job easier. In the NFL, the talent gap is very narrow. The difference between winning and losing in the NFL is often 3-4 plays a game. There are no 60-7 games in the NFL. USC has one of the most talented offenses in college football. When the opponent can't match up physically and is smaller and slower, it means running backs rack up big numbers, the QB is not pressured, and receivers are wide open.

Think Kerry Collins - he was on a very talented offense and what has he done. Think Ken Dorsey or Gino Toretta or any Florida QB. What have they done in the NFL???

I don't think Leinart is that good and I agree with the supporting cast argument. His physical tools don't compare to Palmer's. I wouldn't draft him at #4. Trading up and giving up picks would be a huge mistake. I don't see Tangini doing that with all the holes the Jets have and with Pennington and Ramsey on the roster.

I totally agree with you on this however the trend in the NFL is coaches running the show. We grew up on Football where you got the best talent and molded the team around him. Now a smart QB who can execute what the coach wants is much higher valued than a playmaker. This is the one big change in the NFL that really impacts how QB's are drafted. If you look at the last SB you had a playmaker against a game manager and although the playmaker had a terrible QB rating he made a throw that turned the game that a game manager wouldn't make in a million years. This is a trend in the NFL that I don't agree with. In the end when really good teams face off in elimination games the ability to make plays puts enormous pressure on the opposition that a game manager just can't accomplish.

All that said if Lienart is available we probably take him and it would be the right move. He would be a big upgrade over what we have and he does have a chance to be really good. I don?t see Palmer like tools but he probably has better tools than a lot of us give him credit for. This is one of those front office grades that could decide the entire future of this Jet regime.
