As I am entitled to respond to, and IMO he is flat out wrong in his assessment. I don't wnt to move up to take him, but the arguments he lays out are laughable.

I absolutely agree and I get annoyed by these guys who have NO formal football knowledge making statements like that .

I agree with you 110% the backing on the post is BS. I have no idea where is

is basing his assesment on Leinart at. I have watched many games over here

in PAC-10 country and the guy is amazing. The guy looks and plays as a NFL

QB. He had a great supporting case but do you not think he made these guys

better or they made him better is the question..I think Leinart made them

    better..ala Mike Williams

Leinart will not be able to play good in bad weather and 10 of his games will be played in the northeast which is know for wind, rain and snow.

Almost every post on this board is an opinion, even when backed up with statistics, photos or film. We all can decide on credibility based on the information given in any particular post or a host of evidence. I happen to disagree with his assessment of Lienart as a definite bust, but on the other hand there are very few if any posters on this board who can properly grade a pro prospect, particularly a QB prospect. Saying that he is definitely wrong at this point is still just an amateur opinion. Several people including pro scouts question Lienart?s ability to make every throw at the NFL level and whether or not he has the physical strength to hold up under NFL pressure. I don?t know of any pro who would call Lienart a definite bust but I also haven?t heard a ton of ?can?t miss? either.

Lets face it giving up our #4 and an additional 1 or 2 picks to move up to get Lienart is a big risk and a valid concern.

WTF are you talking about? Who the hell are you to know how Leinart will

perform in weather conditions... Your points have no backing at all and are

    pure speculation.

All true but we still should.not move up. We need all the picks we can get.

This Pennington thing really has warped a lot of you Jets fans.
Having a complete rifle for an arm doesn't mean jack.
Drew Bledsoe has a very strong arm. Tom Brady does not have an exceptionally strong arm. Is Bledsoe the better QB? Of course not.

Matt Leinart doesn't have a weak arm. His arm is not as strong as Cutler's, but Leinart is also more accurate and poised than Cutler. And those qualities count just as much.

It's an inexact science. Andre Ware, Heath Shuler, Ryan Leaf...it's always a gamble. And, if you want to cite Penny and speaking of supporting casts, can you say C. Pennington to R. Moss/Thundering Herd? Pennington wasn't exactly a shrinking violet in college. I was thrilled when the Jets got him personally. Hindsight is always 20/20. We'll have to see what happens with Chad. Could be the comeback of the century. Ow! No reason to throw rocks at my head for that.

I always believe the arm strength thing is overrated. Especially because that was the only knock on Peyton Manning coming out of college as well.

My concerns on Leinart are that he played in a conference with poor defenses. Played with teammates that were far better than any of their competition. He played in ideal weather conditions. That's all well documented. My biggest concern however is that he wants to play in NY a little too much. I think this guy is too spotlight happy. He wants the attention and the glammer. He reminds me of Siragusa's knock on Joey Harrington throug his whole career. He's too much of a pretty boy. Give me a lunch pail, blue collar guy that will stay in the pocket, take a hit, and make a tackle if the need ever arises.

I would take Matt Leinart ONLY if he was there at 4. I wouldn't trade up for him using any picks, by any means. I'm sorry, but he's not enough to cost us several other solid players.

He does not have an extremely weak arm. Saying so is flat out wrong. His arm strength is average, in line with Tom Brady and several others. He can make the throws he needs to make, and get the ball there quick enough (which is where Pennington struggles).

I agree on yopur second point, though. I do not want to trade up for him, or anyone else.

    I have a question

If we're going to draft a QB why the hell did we get Ramsey?

For anyone who says draft Cutler I want to know how many full games have you seen him play. I bet before you started hearing the media bring up his name you didn't even know who he was.

I want the Jets to draft Leinart but that doesn't mean anything. I have seen him play maybe 5 full games. I'm going to trust the scouts and Mangini on this one. If Mangini strongly likes Cutler or Leinart than he is going to trade up to get one of them.

Don't believe anything you are reading in the papers, like the Jets are not high on Leinart. In fact whatever you are reading, the opposite is probably true. Remember this is a new regime that doesn't like to talk to the media.

Average arm strength there's a selling point you can sink your teeth into.:)

The NFL is about making throws with your arm when you can't set up and use your legs. He may be great and I believe if he is available it would be hard to pass on him but you really have to evaluate him compared to both Cutler and Young because we may have a shot at all three of them?
