I don't get this talk about Leinart not being the kind of guy Mangini would want on his team. You don't think Mangini wants a Qb who is a true leader that does nothing but win football games. Sounds to me like a guy every HC would dream about.
Condon's "Mr. Holdout" until he gets the last penny. I wish anyone who drafts Leinart good luck in signing him if he goes with Condon. They're gonna need it.
Take it easy pal, I was making light of the situation because who cares that Matt Leinart fired his agent? (except Mr Steinburg) He's still gonna get 30 million in gauranteed money regardless if Bruce Springsteen is his agent. Steinburg has represented more number #1 pick QB's and has done a good job in getting big money deals, especially for number one picks. I'm sure Leinart has his reasoning. And by the way, I won't stereotype your offense to my comment based on where your from.
Its 3 weeks before draft day...YOUR FIRED!!!   how did this thread become a discussion about arm strength?:hackett: oops thats the wrong sign...uhhh ---->fftopic: there ya go!
Isnt it true Leinart also wants to be a movie star aswell and this firing had something to do with that.
He is probably going with Condon, b/c Condon just signed on with Creative Artists Agency and CAA was already handling Leinart's endorsing and licensing agreements.
I totally agree,Vision. Leinart seems to be a model NFL QB; a respected, intelligent student of the game who's also a proven winner and leader. How someone can claim, completely out of the blue ,that Leinart is not a "Mangini guy" is bizarre,IMO. Suddenly, because he fired his agent and because he's doing what he thinks is best for his career and his family,Leinart is selfish, not team-oriented,and doesn't care about winning football games? Come on guys,it's cool to have your own opinion, but at least base it on some sort of reality. If Leinart is not a Mangini-type QB (whatever the hell that means),I'd hate to see who is.
All of this is all blown out of shape. How do we really know any of these people? It's all media hype designed to sell articles and magazines. I can't wait for the damned draft to be over with and get these people signed and into camp where we can look at them... then throw them into a couple of preseason games... then and only then will we start to get a handle on what they're like and know whether or not they're "Mangini Guys," whatever the hell that exactly is too... because we don't really know EM that well yet either. So little time... so much to learn...
So if Leinart is a sore loser for expressing his feelings after a loss. Then what does that Make 1/2 the JETS fans on here when they get slapped up by NE and cry The refs did it??? Leinart is a competitor. He wanted to win on his way out. That's all
The people arguing that the possible marriage of Matt Leinart to the Jets is a mistake must either be Vince Young fans, Jay Cutler fans, or guys who think Ramsey/Pennington is a valid qb plan. He clearly wants to be a Jet. How can Jets fans NOT want a guy who wants to be a Jet? He's not a fool, nor is he a dick. A fool would hire a pimp to be his agent, which Vince Wonderlic Young has appeared to do. Leinart knows what pressure will be thrust upon him if he lands in the Big Apple, and he has the confidence and the skills to not let that deter him for his quest to wear the color green. He's frothing for the chance to play on the biggest stage in the world, which is a genuine display of fearlessness. He's a proven leader, with a hunger for more success. Frustrated by the loss to Texas, he could have just as easily said he won two nat'l championships and that you can't win them all. But he appeared unsatisfied after a college career that most college players would give their first and second borns for. And even if his arm is as weak as a healthy Chad's (it's not, but I'll amuse the doubters), as long as his accuracy is as sharp as that healthy Chad, he can succeed with the Jets. Just ask Chad. His determination makes everyone around him perform better. Just like Chad. Leinart is the future of the franchise. They should go after him as aggressively as he's approaching them, and build a shiny new coat of armor to protect him for a long time to come (fa's and next year's draft). In order to embrace the future, one must put down the past. Whether that past is Vince Young in the Rose Bowl, or Chad of '02/'04...you decide. When's the last time someone wanted to be a Jet and nothing but a Jet? I think you have to go back to the Kotex era, to the man who wore #80. I'll take that same passion in my future quarterback, every day of the week.
Leinart fired his agent because Steinberg was paying too much attention to Rod Tidwell. He obviously wants the Jets.
This might be the best post I've ever read on here (in a whole month - lol). Gimme Leinart! so long as we can get him at #4
