College isn't free in America. I can't afford any more children.

I'm a Tottenham fan so it hard to enjoy what LC is doing at the moment given that we're up against them in a title race. It's especially bad considering we largely outplayed them in both match ups this year only to blow it at the very end.

From a neutral standpoint I have to say that I would prefer them over pretty much anyone else ( besides Spurs obviously)- that said there's pretty much no comparing them to an NFL team. The Browns maybe, but that's only because they're given pretty much no chance to win year in and year out. The main problem with soccer leagues is that they're set up pretty much like feudalism- a few big money clubs run the show, while everyone else clamors for the scraps and should they produce good homegrown talent themselves, in time they are virtually forced to sell that player on to the big clubs when they come knocking. That's what makes this run so unprecedented and the comparison to and NFL team so difficult- the absence of a draft and the HUGE gap in wealth has virtually eliminated parity in European soccer leagues. It will be interesting to see how much of the team they'll be able to retain when the vultures come circling this summer. The new EPL TV contracts, however, may actually allow them to hold onto the squad and add to it as traditionally smaller clubs are now facing less financial strain. Not to mention added funds from Title and Champions League bonuses.

BTW if their is an EPL team to compare the Jets to, its Tottenham. Not bad but not really good either- always on the cusp of success but end up on the outside looking in. They also find bizarre and disgusting ways to blow games they've been the better side in and are seen as the little brother to their North London neighbors Arsenal. Additionally, their last Title came in the 60's similar to our beloved Jets and they change managers like clean underwear. Spurs are having a nice run this season and seem to have a bright future... so hopefully they dont end up like the Jets yet again...

If Leicester wins this weekend they'll be 9 points up on the Gunners and could be 9 up on City. That would be incredible, they've also signed Vardy for another 3 years so he'll be there long term (at least on paper). What makes their story even more amazing is they were in 20th place all the way up until there were only 7 games to play last season. Should they win this it's not some wild card team getting hot at the right time to win the Super Bowl. This is 38 weeks of being the best team in England. There are no such things as flukes in European Soccer.

I guess it could be worse, they could be Parma who I used to follow until they essentially died....

    Parma, Parma, Parma

My old beloved team. Who can forget the legendary 1999 team.

Buffon, Cannavaro, Thuram. Hernan Crespo, Dino Baggio, Juan Veron, Chiesa.

Man, we are getting old. :(

I'm still pissed Roberto Baggio sent that last shot high in 1994.

Yeah two separate guys. Dino was a midfielder and came after Roberto Baggio. I am impressed that you remember the missed penalty. But the World Cup was in US so you might have watched the game.

I was happy to see Baggio miss the shot. I was rooting for Brazil in that tournament. I typically don't root for Brazilians but I didn't want a European team win in Americas for the first time in history. Well fucking Germans did it 2 years ago anyway

It was only because it was Italy in the finals. The WC is the only time I'll ever watch soccer.

Kind of like Women's Figure Skating in the Olympics.

    Well, exactly like that.

Actually, now that I think about it, it was probably the first soccer game I ever watched from beginning to end.

I still couldn't figure out why my Italians weren't wearing Red White and Green. I was like, WTF is with this blue?

It'd be like USA wearing purple and gold.

Yep. Blue is the Italian National Team color. If they wear Green, White and Red nobody will recognize them anymore. Along with Italy, Netherlands also doesn't wear their flag colors. They wear orange. Italy wears Blue. Big big big traditions. Turkey also tried the same a few years ago. They went awat from Red-White Turkish flag colors to Turquoise but it failed miserably so they went back to traditional red and white.

Had Fenerbahce at -1 today. Have made more $$ off soccer than NFL this year. L.C. has been a big money maker as they continually get no respect. Hope they keep giving me these crazy good odds. Got them for +425 last week against MC. Right now they are +400 against Arsenal.

That was an amazing team, now they essentially are nothing but a memory. They've reformed but play in like the 5th division of Italian soccer.

Fenerbahce are the match fixing scumbags. Especially when they are playing home, always but always pick them for the win. You will never lose.
