Haha why thank you. So just for the record; I disagreed with your declaration that we are headed for a down year after 5 days of free agency. That's literally all I've said. Since then you've gone on a tirade accusing me of homerism. Clearly you're stubbornly blinded to any rational opinions by your over the top pessimism. I'm done talking to you.
Woodson because he doesn't like to play the young guy no matter how good they are? But that's for a different forum!
You can't be a front office homer ten minutes into Year Two of a rebuild. There are only two things you can be: 1. Calmly and patiently waiting to see what happens, or 2. Crying the sky is falling because it makes you feel better Which one are you?
Are all the idzick believers gonna be calm and patient with rex? Since idzick is giving him so much of nothing to work with?
Assuming we add more offense Rex is sitting pretty.Have you seen our DLine lately? Theyre gonna be even better next year
He was a part of drafting Richardson. Was a great pick. What else did he do for the front 7. I he I'd sign antonio Garry to a vet minimum contract, unfortunately he didn't make the team
I don't know if this is a reliable source, but "Source: #Raiders are willing to "significantly front load" a deal for Jared Allen and upped offer today, Allen will choose team over weekend" https://twitter.com/DConnollyNFL/status/446777744181841922 That really gives me an appreciation of Idzik's approach. The Raiders are trying to overpay for a talented but aging d-line. Do you think the Raiders can win a superbowl like this? In a very tough AFC West? Building for the future is a much better approach.
Agreed. They signed Woodley, Tuck and now perhaps Allen. All are past their primes. That would be a crazy D-Line if this was five-six years ago.
If it wasn't so sad, I'd find the Idzik-is-god crowd funny. For those of you who are Mets fans, look back to when Sandy took over, and how every fan thought his every move was gold-----fast forward four years, and his team has not improved at all and most Mets fans hate the guy. There is a GULF between what the Raiders are doing, which is spending an exorbitant amount of money on FAs, and say the Patriots, or Eagles, or Giants, who have spent SOME monies on free agents that fill holes at reasonable prices while still having cap flexibility. Finally if you support Idziks plan, you have to live and die with Geno. In a plan where the draft is EVERYTHING, you simply cannot throw away an early 2 on a bust QB. So I expect all you Idzik lovers to at least be consistent; if Geno isn't our franchise QB, then Idzik failed and should be fired.
Who did the Eagles bring in? We have a lot of holes to fill. When that's the case, it's good to go for the later signings instead of the big names. Why don't you wait more than a week to overreact? We can still bring in big players like Desean Jackson, and some lower tier players like Terrell Thomas. I'm not gonna praise everything Idzik does. I think he should have at least tried for Revis and gone harder for DRC. But look at this big picture. People are freaking out and it's been one week since free agency started. There's a ton of quality players that will just get cheaper as time goes on.
Maybe we should bring Holmes back at a reduced price?if we don't trade for Jackson.I'm sure Idziks phone is ringing about the trade but he is "taking his time to answer it"
@MoWilkNYJ gets it. Idzik isn't perfect. In particular, the Revis situation could have been handled a little better (though we'll never truly know how much Revis wanted to come back to the Jets). However, he did sign Decker for reasonable money, which is highly commendable. It's difficult for us fans to process what's going on because we've been watching Tanny blow up the cap for years. It seems that Idzik's philosophy is to let the market come to the Jets. Admittedly, this deprives the team of free agent "splashes" but there's a clear benefit to keeping cap space. It allows the team to pursue trades with teams who can't afford to pay their players (Jackson). It permits the Jets to pickup talent that gets cut. And if it's not used at the end of the season, the money can be carried forward into the next league year (which happens to be when some of our homegrown talent needs to be resigned [Wilkerson]). Does this new philosophy guarantee that the Jets will improve. HELL NO. Tomorrow's promised to no one, much less consistent success in the NFL. It's just a different way of doing things: a method that takes time to develop because it places risk not on free agency, but on the draft (where contracts are cheap, and players are expendable). Less than two weeks into his first full free agency? Too soon. Idzik's portfolio is too young to properly evaluate; in a year or two, when his investments have matured, we'll be in a better position to determine whether he's made the right choices.
2009 NY Jets 2008 Arizona Cardinals 2012 Seahawks 2008 Ravens 2012 Colts (from 1 win to playoffs) 2004 Panthers These are just a few examples of teams that made SB runs or at the very least got in the dance after a horrid year. There are many others. Point remains that any year, any given team can make a SB run with an avg - above avg qb and a GM who fills holes in the offseason correctly. So yes this is factual evidence
Or .... you can be concerned bc you know that some of these moves or non moves are highly questionably....
