I understand, but it is still unrealistic to think you can use up saved up cap space, find the key players you will need, and avoid overpaying for them all in one FA period.

Nor was it imo necessary to not be competitive in 2014. With a good Qb and some key players, the Jets could have been. Now it is too late.

I know this is not a position many agree with, and the Qb piece is concededly key, but there you have it.

You must think you add something here.

Other than spouting the FO Homer party line, you really don't.

I always believe it's never 1 person that fucks up. But I do believe if Rex fails to improve the players on the roster that were here last season he's going to be in trouble.

It's like the Knicks, the Knicks could have won prob 5 or 6 more games if they just sat JR Smith down in the 4th. Knicks FO resigned JR, but Woodson keeps playing him despite him turning the ball over and shooting bad shots. Who's to blame for the end result? Prob Woodson, he will pay the price.

Sure, when tickets and concessions are free. Until then and as long as people are paying for this shit they have every right to say whatever they want.

great post br4d. i worry that there are still too many holes and that the talent we have and brought in isnt really all that great. the overall talent of the team will come through draft it appears. i dont particularly care for the thought of milliner opposite either of wilson or walls. its not the most important position but our coach tends to like to leave those guys on an island and none of those 3 guys have shown they are up to the task. milliner stepped forward at the end of last year so hopefully he can take the next step but the other 2 are not all that great.

the olb situation isnt dire but it isnt fantastic either, it was smart to bring pace back.

harris is a year older and davis still doesnt grasp pass defense. its a position that if the bpa was an ilb you would hate to pass him over for a need. harris is also a ufa next year if i remember correctly.

lets see what happens but to have a need for cb, fs, te, qb and at least one of the lb positions before even looking at really improving the team at wr and the o line with questions at the guards, and mangold and dbrick getting a little long in the tooth. thats not the way i would want to go into the draft, although its a pretty good chance that the bpa will fill a need as there are so many.

Remember, the full equation was Draft - Holmes + Decker = better team. We haven't drafted any players this year, so it's too soon to answer that at this point.

I think the team overachieved and only solidly got 6 wins, plus 2 flukey wins (which still count of course). We could improve significantly and still only win 8 games. That's especially true when you consider that this year's schedule should be a good deal harder than last year's, although hopefully at least 2 of our "good" opponents will regress massively like the Falcons and Buccaneers did last year.

Cromartie has been gone for a while. You do know they released him, he wasn't just a free agent, don't you?

Although I am plenty concerned about the lack of urgency with this FO, I also realize it is March 20th. Week 1 is 5 and a half months away... Lets all take a deep breath and give it some time.

what's my point? you said "now" he is gone. he isn't gone now, he was gone two weeks ago, and reports had already come out that they were not pushing to sign him. there was nothing "now" about him being gone to the Jets, he was gone to the Jets when they released him.

Lol slow down.. There's been talk the jets need to resign him as we're disgustingly thin at corner. "Now" there is no chance of that. Why would we resign a guy at a position we need filled on a cheap 1 year deal. Lol

there was fan talk of wanting to resign him, but no chatter from the Jets that was part of their plan. I am discussing it in regards to the team not the fans.

Ok, as a fan my opinion is... a one year cheap deal is Something this accountant should have explored. I'm sure Kyle Wilson will be just fine so why bother. Lol

  18. YOU were the one who originally talked out of both sides of your mouth! YOU criticized the re-signing of Pace & referenced his original ties to the team as some sort of clincher. Hypocrisy at its finest.Great metal band too.

You also continually mention how he got 10 coverage sacks yet also complain about how bad are secondary supposively is/was. How the hell does an “over the hill” OLB who has seen better days get 10 coverage sacks behind a crappy secondary. Doesn’t that require…I don’t know…GOOD COVERAGE??

Nobody is pretending Pace is a long term fix. As for his contract..I believe another poster already dispelled your notion that we’re paying him 5 times as much as last season..or that he’ll even be on the roster a year from now. Again..it’s about value. Pace does a lot of little things well.Obviously the Jets think they are getting bang for their buck.Recent history suggests if they didn’t think so..they would’ve passed on him just like all the others. I don’t pretend to understand what those metrics are or how they valuate it..but simple logic speaks for itself. OLB has proven to be a very difficult position to fill in Rex’s D. They’re just aren’t a lot of guys out there who have the size to hold up to setting the edge on an island plus the burst/dipping ability to rush the passer. Hopefully this is a position we can address in the upcoming draft. They sit for a year & hopefully start as early as next season.

Your whole Giacomino/Howard contract argument was already dispelled by another poster…with significantly more guaranteed money going to Howard. Neither guy is anywhere close to elite. The main difference is one is being paid as one..the other isn’t.

Ansamoah is nothing more than an average guard.Average.AVERAGE.This FA guard class was pretty much garbage. I don’t care what the metrics say. The same metrics that said the Jets had a top 10 OL back in 2011 with WFH?? Why’d the chiefs let him & Schwartz go if they were so good? Again..back to table scraps. This is an extremely deep OL class draft wise. We have 12 picks. Why in the world would you overpay for garbage off the street when you can get a guy of similar value & pay them half literally into the 5th round??

Only in the “instant gratification” ESPN laiden world are all draft picks boom or bust like you are suggesting. There are a such thing as depth players..useful pieces. You are so caught up in filling holes amongst the starters you lose sight of that. But I bet you’re one of the first posters who bitches when a great player goes down with an injury & there’s no feasible replacement. Hmm..we must’ve let that guy go in TC because you didn’t view him as starting material.

I would wholeheartedly disagree with this assumption that winters showed nothing. I thought he showed some good pop in the running game late in the year..some good recovery both with his hand punches & kick step. He struggled for a large portion. He needs to get stronger & work on his leverage. To be expected from a small school guy making a position change. As for Bohanon..why bother getting fired up about a 7th round fullback?? Be happy the guy made the fricking team & played a role. DEPTH.SPECIAL TEAMS.SUB PACKAGES.

According to Idzik comments today in NY. Cro was a possibility and was thus on their radar. if this is true or not I don't know. Many of the things him and Rex said sounded more like damage control than anything else.
