When I hear talk about bringing in Leftwhich I realize that this is still the same Jets I grew up with. Hey, isn't that new Van Halen video really hot, you know the one with the school teacher? Man, I wish teachers put out, that would be so awesome, not as awesome as Van Halen though. I drew a big VH on my blue binder during lunch.
It was stupid of J'ville to get rid of him. He failed in Atlanta, but has done well as a backup in Pittsburgh. I think we could bring him on cheap. He'd be great competition between Ratliff and Clemens. He'd make a solid veteran backup if anyone went down. I support bringing on the witch!
i very much support bringing him aboard........i believe hes underrated....he has talent...and would do nothing but help the team
Regardless of which Vet you bring in, it raises 2 issues. (1) It ties up money on a stop-gap measure that may not be needed..(2) Which one of our 3 QB's do you end up letting go? A lot of people say we need a vet QB to help the young guys out. Rex said he agrees and that why he hired Matt as our QB coach. He is a veteran QB of 16 years. No more band-aids!
He was cut in Jacksonville in favor of an untested Garrard. He lost the starting job in Atlanta when they were desperate for a QB. He is getting splinters in Pittsburgh now. He has a slow release and his foot speed is even slower than that. He is also injury prone. When will Jet fans stop their infatuation with arm strength and look at the total picture? What makes you think that a QB who is now officially a journeyman would find success with the Jets? Let's develop a QB of our own rather than bring in veterans from other teams' trash heaps.
You won't be hearing about the Jets looking at any veteran QB's... till they are signed. Here's why... From thejetsblog.com Pete Prisco wonders why no one has even sniffed at QB Byron Leftwich. How can quarterback Byron Leftwich be out there without any suitors? Leftwich was 24-20 as a starter in Jacksonville and he played well in relief last season for the Steelers. You tell me that Cassel’s one year of success makes him that much more valuable? This got me thinking … if the Jets do get involved in getting a veteran, they have to be extremely careful about the process. If the team is bringing in any number of veteran QBs — even if they don’t sign a single one — after giving endorsements to their young guns, then it will appear to be a mixed message. If the Jets do it, it will likely be a fairly tight operation.
