What do my religious beliefs have to do with being able to appreciate someone's beliefs who I primarily share with on a moral and ethical level? Let me guess, you believe atheist are "evil". Actually I live just outside of Greensboro NC. And I didn't follow Tebow, I followed John Fox, Panthers ex coach. And the Patriots simply happened to be the first football team I followed, before the Panthers ever became an established football team. And they just happened to play each other in a SuperBowl, and thus I have great respect for both the players and coaches of both teams. But I'm not sure why I even bother constantly responding to guys like you who obviously have axes to grind and NEVER have anything nice or positive to say about either Tebow or anything that I post. People that are obviously constantly on the lookout to discredit, criticize, put down or try to attack. And let me just add this. You know, there are few things more annoying to me than posters who always seem to find themselves in topics "they don't care about", replying to posts of members "they don't like" and then proceed to display how displeased they are with everything by either purposely twisting, misinterpreting and have no intention of actually participating in the discussions in a contructive manner. I know you are a veteran member here, obviously have been around for awhile, and have a lot of support from the moderators here, so since there's little chance they are going to point out or do anything about what I would describe as typical trolling behavior, could you please do me a favor and use the responsible part of your personality, if you possess it, to moderate yourself? Nobody is really interested in seeing this back and forth bicker you and a couple of others get off on creating, and I honestly believe you're keeping a lot of other members, particularly new members, from participating out of fear of ridicule by veteran members like yourself. And if you can't do that, will you at least make sure you take the time and read something I post before immediately responding with an obvious pre-planned attacked? That part may also benefit you too because in this case it was pretty obvious, and adopting this approach may help prevent you from having to take your proverbial foot out of your mouth and then follow it up with being even more annoying and distracting by using big red font.
I've posted plenty of positive things about Tebow, but some of his 'fans', well, that's another story. You are so brainwashed by idol worship that you see any critique of his game as constant criticism and you go into fanboy defense mode. I don't actually view atheism as 'evil', not sure where you got that idea, just pointing out inconsistencies in your support of him. I know a lot of atheists, and I don't know any one of them that would admire religious beliefs as some kind of positive thing. I actually don't think you're an atheist at all. That's probably as big a pile of BS as most of your cherry-picked statistical arguments. As far as the novel you tacked onto the end of your post, I got as far as you accusing ANYONE ELSE of twisting and misinterpreting things about Tebow and I wrote it off as an obsessed and hypocritical diatribe that could be ignored.
I'm still waiting for a Tebowite to tackle the Orton weeks 1 to 5 vs Tebow weeks 7 to 11 issue-- not only because I believe that I am correct but also because the sample size is the same and their records (1-4 vs 4-1) allow for the comparison "given the fact that Tebow won 3 more games with the same team over the same number of weeks".
You know honestly, I don't really give a rats ass about what you believe, especially about me. Thankfully, I'm not one of the atheists you know, and from the sound of it I probably wouldn't really want to have anything to do with with a self proclaimed atheist that actually sees things as you claim they do. There is no label that can describe and encompass all atheists, except maybe for the large prevalent shared characteristic that most don't generally believe in deities. Personally I feel a true Christian like Tebow and atheists have a lot in common. Most true atheists don't have an issue with all religious beliefs and don't define themselves by that. Some may have a problem with the political stance, the use of religion for manipulation, control and wrong doing through religion, the hypocrisy that exists in the institutions and members who claim to follow it honestly, can't think for themselves and rarely follow their own beliefs. But most atheist are simply freethinkers. And I would hardly call someone that completely ignores or is entirely against a widespread topic such as religion a freethinker. I'd call them ignorant. But only people who don't actually understand what an atheist is, and maybe not even Christianity, believes it to be something that can simply be described as someone who's against religious beliefs. Tebow walks the walk and it's not his religion that I appreciate, but his character and actions. Personally I don't have a problem seeing the positives as well as the negatives in everything, including religion. I don't believe all religion is bad or wrong. I think it has its place and serves its purpose when used responsibly. I don't see the issue as black or white. Faith? Ethics? Morals? The belief in something greater than yourself? A higher power or force? The constant search for truth and meaning instead of regurgitating things that are passed down? I love those things and so do most men of science. I just don't believe these were things passed down from "God" or come from a book called "The Bible" and don't believe you go to Hell or Heaven if you do or don't do what they say. I don't believe Moses parted the Red Sea or that Jesus turned water into wine or any of the other fairy tales described in the bible. Just like a true Christian and a believer in the teachings of Jesus doesn't feel the need to associate themselves with any churches or religious organizations in order to follow or live out those beliefs, a true atheist have little interest in proving they are against religion or make it some sort of point in their life to always take an anti-religious stance and speak out against it to prove that they are atheist. The reason I support Tebow is because he doesn't appear like the type of person trying to expand Christianity for the sake of Christianity, he's interested in expanding the most cherished beliefs of Christianity. He's not a threat to my beliefs or my freedom of thinking. He's not trying to convert me. If anything, he's more of a threat to the millions of people that claim to follow his religion. He's setting an example for them. In fact, I would raise my children the same way I was raised, with a strong foundation in Christianity or maybe multiple religions. And hopefully when they mature, and reach their teenage years and can think for themselves as I once did, they will come to their own realization that the Bible and religion is simply a metaphorical tool to teach people morality and ethics. And that some people use it for the wrong reasons and that they are to follow their own road and discover their own beliefs in life. There is nothing wrong with that, and I'd much rather they learn those basics from there, than schools or kindergardens, television, or modern "role models" and society.
And I'm still waiting for a moderator to show some responsibility and moderate this sub-forum like they do the others and put a stop to all this blatant derailing, gang mentality and personal attacks. That has nothing to do with this discussion. If you want to compare Tebow and Orton and feel dissatisfied with prior responses, why not start a new thread and discussion about it? This is about Bubba Watson playing in Tim Tebow's upcoming Golf Tournament. I would suggest not using the term "Tebowite" in your post if you want an open and intelligent discussion though. PS: I love your choice use of quotes of my replies to posts that were personally attacking me in some sort of way but chose to leave those out.
This statement is obviously evident by the seven spirited paragraphs you followed it with defending your 'beliefs'.
Perhaps you don't like it when people mirror your methods of debate. But instead of deciding which stats matter when analyzing Tebow's quarterbacking ability, we are deciding which parts of your posts matter. Tit for tat.
You make more personal attacks than any other poster on this website at the moment... I have no idea how you haven't been banned yet (not my opinion I'm citing precedence). What "gang mentality"? Is this Crips vs Bloods? What you probably meant was "herd mentality" which is completely different from "gang mentality"... You go back to "blatant derailing" as I expected. You must've missed my reply... I'll repost it for you: Either answer direct responses or stop blindly reiterating yourself. You're smarter than this.
Now I'm going to go back and double-check this and prove you wrong that, at the very least, one of your personal attack-laden posts was unprovoked. Brb.
Gee golly tim tebow gets more fascinating the more I find out. He mustve prayed for bubba to find his inner peace with god so he can clear his head and succeed. Tim tebow is a good friend, hard to tnink he can turn a complete stranger into a masters champion. Nobody puts together a charity event like tebow. He also doesn't have the longest randy johnson baseball pitch throwing mechanic. Viva la tebow
I usually don't count generalizations as personal attacks ("You are an idiot" vs. "No one with a brain can possibly believe that"). However, for the sake of the argument, I'll count all forms of "negative comments" as "personal attacks". Quote 1: You're correct. Quote 2: You're correct. Quote 3: You're correct. Quote 4: He asked you to calm down and told you you're living in a fantasyland. If you take that as a personal attack then you have the thinner skin than Obama. I won't argue with you here because... Quote 5: No preceding personal attack. You were unprovoked here. You said: You were obviously dead wrong. Unless 60% (or 80%) = 100%. The most important mistake I made (that you failed to mention) was that I accidentally included the same quote twice. That has since been edited and I apologize for accidentally including the same quote twice.
Seriously, I love you guys! If it wasn't for the sheer entertainment of how you rip each other apart, I'd probably be a serial killer by now, LOL!
Are you looking for an explanation as to how over a 5 game period Orton put up better EPA but Tebow won more games?
I know its been said, but I'll chime in... This was a ridiculously stupid thread to begin with, there's only 1 person upset about it being "derailed" and honestly probably only 1 person who gave a shit about this to begin with. The teblower "Patriots" fan, if thats not confused that I dont know what is.. How can you possibly feel the need to defend yourself when you make a thread like this? Do you even think about how much of a "fan boy" you are making yourself look like when you post? Tim Tebow knows a golfer???? NO WAY. Truly fascinating stuff. Lets start a thread everytime we find out he knows someone new.
