Not probably he did. Westerman had a sack in the Texans game which also happened to be the first game of the season which also happened to be the first game of his career fuckin Gholston sucks
good pick up. after the loss of Wallace Wright I was kind of worried we'd leave behind ST. Great statement by the front office that we want to be an all around team. I see so much potential in this team.
Lance Laury replaces either Larry Izzo or Ryan Fowler on special teams. He'll make life a lot easier on guys like Marquice Cole, Brad Smith, and James Ihedigbo. Here's an under the radar signing that we should keep an eye on: Brannon Condren. He was a 4th rounder out of Troy a few years ago. Condren is listed as a safety, but I think he'll be a hell of a special teamer for the Jets. I think he made Wallace Wright expendable.
He's played for 6 teams in 3 years (PS mostly) but the Wallace Wright thing does make sense. These signings are a good sign that Tanny isn't ignoring special teams, though.
This is good. While I would have liked to see us retain Wright and Murrell, this is at least a step in the right direction. The ST unit wasn't spectacular last season, so Westhoff may want to bring in different types of guys anyway.
I like him better than Izzo, hopefully he can get some big hits on special teams and be able to fill in in dire situations where we need a shirt replacement for Scott or Harris, when I saw Izzo in there inside the twenty I knew there was trouble
Well Laury seems like an upgrade to an aging Izzo, and probably an upgrade over Fowler as well. I see Westy is determined to find a way to better our ST unit this year.
Westhoff is a brilliant ST coach and seems to have a strong personality (at least judging by his interactions with the players). I'm sure he has Tanny's ear woth regard to ST moves.
Nothing wrong with that. The coordinators call the plays so they should have some say on who makes them.
