If we have the #1 pick, and decide to trade down, I sure hope that you're wrong!

we also have a ton of holes to fill and you can't count on every rookie to be a hit off the bat or ever. we need CBs, Edge, O-line, WRs, maybe even ILB or RB depending on how the off season goes. we only have 35 players under contract next year as of now. that means 18 roster spots open. even with 10 picks (5 in the 1st 3 rounds) and 70mil to spend we have a lot of turnover coming. trading down for an extra couple of picks could be huge and lawerence isn't going to "fix" the jets. he'll be sam 2.0 all over who is basically david carr 2.0 at this point

Darnold was a blue chip prospect no doubt and unfortunately we ruined him because we kept on changing the offence. Even though I liked Josh Allen better and screamed it from the mountain top!!!

TL is on another level type prospect up there with Elway, Luck, Peyton. That’s a generational prospect that doesn’t come around too often.. basically once a decade...

    Huge difference

Darnold was a very good prospect.

Lawrence is definitely one level up from that. He appears to be in that Elway/Manning/Luck tier and slightly above where Darnold was.

There’s not much to say other than we have to draft him if we have the number 1 pick. It’s funny as he’s a harder eval than a Mahomes, Wentz, Allen...etc. because he plays with sooooooo much talent around him. One thing is for sure, he’s a better prospect than Sam. Right now I have him somewhere between Mahomes & Josh Allen as a prospect. That’s pretty damn good. The whole “best since Luck/Manning” narrative doesn’t mean much to me as I never thought Luck was that great and wasn’t really evaluating QB prospects back when Manning came out.

I had to create this thread.

    Why?

Because I'm already so sick and tired of a couple of Jet fans claiming that "Sam Darnold was Trevor Lawrence 3 years ago" - when that couldn't be further from the truth.

Sam Darnold was an ESPN driven media hype due to ONE ROSE BOWL PERFORMANCE vs. Penn State; and guys like Maccagnan and us Jet fans fell for it. We were tricked because of his "youth".

The kid was just too young and too inexperienced coming out (now thinking back).

All while (I remember) a lot of other experts questioned Sam's weird release and mechanics and also criticized his poor decision making due to being a turnover machine @ USC with INTs and especially fumbles committed (GALORE).

Trevor Lawrence blows Sam Darnold out of the waters within each and every statistical category known to Football mankind; and it's not even close on who's the much better Quarterback prospect and talent coming out.

    Trevor Lawrence (6'6/220 lbs).
    • Record of 34-1 (97.1%).
    • 2 National Championship Games.
    • 635/952 (66.7%).
    • 8,489 passing yards.
    • 8.9 yards per pass attempt.
    • 81 TD Passes.
    • 13 INT's.
    • 6.2 TD-to-INT Ratio.
    • 1 INT per every 73.2 passing attempts.
    • 5 Fumbles (4 lost).
    • 17 turnovers combined.
    • 188 Rushing Attempts.
    • 794 Rushing Yards.
    • 4.2 yards per rushing attempt.
    • 14 Rushing TD's.
    • 1 turnover per every 67.0 touches.
    QB RATING OF 167.0

    Sam Darnold (6'4/220 lbs).
    • Record of 21-6 (77.7%).
    • 0 National Championship Games.
    • 549/846 (64.9%).
    • 7,229 passing yards.
    • 8.5 yards per pass attempt.
    • 57 TD Passes.
    • 22 INT's.
    • 2.5 TD-to-INT Ratio.
    • 1 INT per every 38.4 passing attempts.
    • 20 Fumbles (14 lost).
    • 36 Turnovers combined.
    • 137 Rushing Attempts.
    • 332 Rushing Yards.
    • 2.4 yards per rush attempt.
    • 7 Rushing TD's.
    • 1 turnover per every 27.3 touches.
    QB RATING OF 153.7.

This is a classic example of "anything you can do, I can do better" in regards to Trevor Lawrence being a much better Quarterback than Sam Darnold EVER WAS; Trevor Lawrence has also put up his statistical numbers against much better Defenses than Sam Darnold ever had to face (and I'm a Defensive maniac).

PSA Announcement: I took the time to create this thread in order to warm fellow Jet posters: Don't you ever dare try and interrupt our Trevor Lawrence/Jet conversations with horse crap remarks/comments/post's on how... "Sam Darnold was Trevor Lawrence 3 years ago" because that's horse crap within the form of a bold face lie (more like a MYTH).

And here in 2020? Trevor's QB Rating of 192.7 is currently 10th highest All-Time (and climbing) meanwhile Sam Darnold's QB Rating of 148.7 during his final year @ USC of 2017 doesn't even COME CLOSE to cracking the Top 100 All-Time (so please and kindly STFU & GTFO with all of this "same type of QB prospect" horse crap).

    And the winner is?

Well. They say you're only as good as YOUR LAST GAME!

And the beating that Trevor Lawrence and Clemson just put on GT? Omg and believe it or not? It was the biggest blowout in ACC Conference Play... HISTORY!!!

I'm not defending Gase because I personally dislike the guy but one thing we can't blame Gase for? Is Sam HIMSELF being a freaking turnover machine. Sam takes the blame for that and not anyone else; except Sam himself.

The same type of QB prospect as Trevor Lawrence MY ASS!

ENJOY! He's a freaking BUST of a TURNOVER MACHINE!

Were you one of the fans attempting to claim Sam was the same type of prospect coming out as TREVOR LAWRENCE? Because if so, I'm sorry this thread didn't fit your agenda because it completely proves otherwise....

It's really amazing that you think beating people over the head with stats and hyperbole will actually win them over to your belief. SMH.

    Have fun.
