I think Sanchez will do a Brady Quinn like Death Wait. The general public mostly saw him in big games like the bowl game where he did well, he had a lot of bad games which were never nationally televised. There are reasons SC fans don't really give a crap about him going pro.
Ooh, ooh, lemme guess. They have, like, 6 other 5-star recruits at QB on their roster? Every QB at USC is extraordinarily productive, even if they have no pro prospects? Sanchez is a beast.
Whether or not Sanchez is NFL-ready right now, you can see he has the tools to be a good QB in the League. He's run a Pro-Style Offense (or the closest thing to it in college), he's played in big games, he's faced pressure from a large fanbase and media market (probably as big as it gets in NCAA football) and he's been productive. What more do you want?
Just curious about this, they mentioned strong arm for the swirling winds but does anybody know for sure the winds will be the same at the new stadium? Is this something that is known fact or speculation? Give me a smart QB that makes good decisions any day over a guy that is known for his cannon arm although obviously he has to have some arm.
They have Mitch Mustain as their QB now, he transfered from Arkansas and was the number 1 recruit in the country a few years ago. BTW can you name me the last USC QB to lead a team to a Super Bowl victory? You'd have to go back all the way to never..... Maybe something should be said for everything they have around them.
no way we take a running back...we have the afc leading rusher.. and leon..we are in no postion to draft guys in the 1st round for replacing our vets or depth...we need to pick a big need with our #1 pick...depending on our free agent signing's....ILB, Wr..Safty,,CB
I'm sorry but i don't know how preseason works... is Free Agency before or after the draft? Or both? Thank you very much . Anyways, my draft would be Round 1) Sanchez or Laurinaitis or Jackson or Jenkins Round 2) ILB or WR or CB Round 3) WR or CB or DE and i guess you can see the progression Only thing.... PLEASE DRAFT A PUNTER IN ROUND 6/7!!!!!
None of it means anything until the combine and people see what these people can and cannot do. Until then it's just a lot of speculation where these people will end up falling.
I agree. Nobody is going to waste a top 10 pick on him and nobody between 11 and the Jets needs a QB. Hell, SF may even be thinking about Vick. They are interviewing every coach he ever played for for their OC position.
I was thinking the same thing. They refer to the swirling winds of the Meadowlands, not the New Meadowlands Stadium... I heard the field is higher, but isn't the infrastructure higher as well? I mean they are only moving next door so one would have to assume the winds across the street can't be more serene than those of its former location.
Kam Chancellor will return to VT for the 2009 season Link: http://www.techsideline.com/news_archive/showArticle-4207.php And I believe that Macho Harris will be there for our 2nd rounder. I think he will last to the late 2nd, early 3rd
If Sanchez somehow makes it to 17 it becomes a no brainer. You take him without thinking twice, problem is I find it very unlikely that he makes it to 17, stranger things have happened though so who knows.
That's how I feel. Sanchez is a top 5 prospect in the draft next year if he comes out. If he slips due to lack of experience, I'd gladly snatch him at 17. Perfect chance for a potential franchise quarterback. I like Ratliff, and I don't think Clemens is horrible, but you can't pass him up if he falls in your lap.
I think the best bet would be to pass on all the qb's in this years draft. 2010's draft will be sooooo much deeper, in terms of quality qb's coming out. I'm just not sold on Sanchez, he hasnt played enough to prove me wrong otherwise. Go with what we got, sign a veteran to compete for the position, and stuff the run big time.
Agreed. From a value standpoint alone, that should be an easy pick, but the fact that we don't have or know of a Franchise QB on the roster should make it a no-brainer. However, let the records show that if Sanchez doesn't go to the Jets, then I'm backing Ratliff as the starter.
Address the defense via free agency and gladly draft Sanchez at 17. The Jets have viable defensive options in free agency if they address the cap correctly. Mike T is a cap guy so I am not worried about that. There are many FA defensive players that can fit right into a Rex Ryan defense. We are currently left with Clemens and Ratliff competing for the starter position at QB. There are no good options in free agency for the long term. Please do not tell me Garcia and Leftwitch are long term answers. If Sanchez is there at 17, the Jets would be nuts to let him pass.
I have my reservations. These big school quarterbacks always get me skeptical, especially ones from USC. When you are entering the draft and 10 of your teammates are going to be taken by round 3 your college stats mean nothing. IMO
