well i dont think quigley will be a pro bowler under the new guy if you're asking. lets be honest...it is hard to evaluate special teams coaching, even for those of us who have nfl replay. but i think it is safe to say that we didnt have a dynamic returner on this team, we lost a solid kicker midway through the season, and our punter was bad. whether our punter was bad or the coaching put him in situations to be bad.... to me thats a little on the GM as well. when your punter is as bad as quigley was, you need to look for an inseason change, whether its the punter or the coach. id have felt alot better about april's firing if it came midseason to try and help things when they were going wrong instead of after the season when it seems a bit more scapegoaty
i disagree that westhoff didnt have talent. Justin miller was a stud return man in college. he led the nation in kick return average twice, and returned 5 kicks in 3 years. i think it is really unfair to say westhoff made miller a good return man. Brad smith was also an excellent returner, and while a qb in college, was extremely dynamic running the ball. 4000 rushing yards and 44 TDS at mizzou. you mentioned leon washington and how he was already a great returner, and a great returner after he left as well cribbs was one of the better return men in the NFL, we brought him in for a stint as well i just dont see any of those types of guys on this team.
damn i forgot all about Brad Smith and Cribbs.. i guess i meant they were nobody's based on their REAL positions... they were solid returners though.
Fitzpatrick at the Knicks game. They showed him like 5 times on cam and he even threw shirts into the crowd. Sounds to me like a guy who's staying.
The man just had his BEST SEASON of his career. He loves Marshall, he loves Decker, he loves Chan, his Head Coach believes in him, he is definitely staying. He loves New York too, it seems. Good for Fitz. Hope he can have another healthy and productive 2016!
What an idiot. But enough of Mehta. What the hell made Rogers pick the 49ers? What better situation to be in than having Fitz and Marshall and Decker coach you up. Also:
He has a better chance of making the team there than he does here. Marshall, Decker, Enumwa, Smith are all locks. There, it's Boldin (35), Smith, Patton and ??
Enunwa is more of a tweener, so he realistically would have had a chance to be the #3 receiver. In SF he'll be behind Boldin, Smith, Patton and compete with 2-3 other guys for the #4-5 WR spot. They don't even have a QB. Whatever, good luck to him.
This. They can't be relied upon on third down or in big game moments like Marshall and Decker. Sure they might make the play, but for every play they make, they let 3 more slip away. I'm honestly concerned with Enunwa's ability to catch. Smith doesn't even get to that point, and now he's injured as well. As it is now, Powell is our next best receiver after Decker and Marshall, and he's set to be a free agent. That is how inept our WR depth is right now.
I think Powell should be resigned, but your point still stands. I saw that Dwayne Allen is a FA. He'd be a great get. Can catch and block, and would make a solid 2 TE set with Amaro. Colts won't keep both Allen and Fleener.
Jets trying to re-sign Erin Henderson, per source http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2016/01/jets_trying_to_re-sign_erin_henderson_per_source.html
Great news. He was solid and much better than Demario. Would imagine he'd cost about $1m, maybe less.
