Only 5'9 - 170 pounds. Seems like a return specialist, at best.

    First post updated.

First post updated. Scary how many free agents we have at certain positions. All 3 running backs will hit the market. 3 of our 4 ILB's don't have a contract. Douzable, Bowen, Snacks, Mo, they're UFA's as well. Geno could be traded this offseason for a 4th round pick maybe if we're lucky. I'm sure the Texans or Browns would be interested.

This thread is just going to be insane if you really plan on updating every time they pickup or drop practice squad(ish) fodder from now until training camp

DBH offered and if he doesn't keep it up to date, I'm going to sue.

Yes, it is scary. I know that Mac had his hands full last off season and still like him a lot and believe in him, but have to wonder if he didn't notice how many FAs we would have this offseason, and how many were starters, key backups, and were primarily focused at ILB and RB. If he did, and at this point I have to assume that he was aware of it, I think it explains why he didn't re-sign Mo then, and why I don't think Mo will be re-signed, unless it's to franchise tender and trade deal. With Mo's pay grade being what it is, we simply don't have enough cap space to sign a bunch of FAs or enough draft picks to replace that many players. I think that both Mo will definitely be gone, as well as Kerley, Cumberland, Cro, Jabari Lattimore, and the safeties we added during the season (Ronald Martin and Dion Bailey). He's going to have to cut corners everywhere he can. Hopefully, Brick will take a decent pay cut. If not, we could be in trouble. If so, we may be able to keep Snacks, but he may opt to let Snacks walk, promote Deon Simon, and add a cheap NT. Then there's Fitz's contract. How much he demands could affect Mac's decisions a lot. If Mac decides he needs to keep Fitz no matter what the price, then Snacks and some others could be gone. If Fitz is too pricey and Mac decides to move on, then we could be back to Geno starting or have another JAG vet brought in.

Even if he can get one RB out of the draft, and re-signs Powell, he still needs another RB. If he keeps Taiwan Jones as one ILB backup and re-signs Erin Henderson, he can let Lattimore go and add a draft pick or UDFA ILB. He can keep Miles and AA as backup safeties and let Jaiquawn Jarret go, or keep Jarrett and let Miles go back to the PS, but he could gain some space by letting Jarrett go. If he doesn't re-sign Thompkins, he's gonna need to come up with another WR. He may opt to go with Amaro and Sudfeld at TE. He'll probably opt to keep Douzable.

I think Mac will try to add a FA OG like the Ravens' K. Osemele or the Panthers Amini Silatolu for OL competition and may try to sign a FA TE like Dwayne Allen or Ladarius Green, or he may seek to add a dirt cheap TE like Bear Pascoe, Anthony McCoy, Chase Coffman or Chase Ford. Those TEs would be hard pressed to be any worse than Davis and Cumberland were.

There will barely be any players added/cut between now and roughly the draft. Things will start to heat up in March when they add camp bodies, so no need to worry there.

Dwayne Allen is a weird guy. Ever since the Colts added him he was supposed to break out, every year it seems. And every year he disappoints, he's banged up and doesn't produce. Kind of their Cumberland. Ladarius Green is very similar. Far more talented and skilled, but he's also banged up all the time and doesn't produce. Still, I'd love to have either guy, Allen or Green.

Yes, both have more talent than Cumberland, Davis or Sudfeld, and arguably more than Amaro. They can't be any worse than what we have, and I think in Chan's offense they could turn into stars.

You sir are an optimist. Maybe if the Dolphins didn't have Tannehill and the Jags didn't have Bortles. There could be a chance one of our idiot former GM's might get somebody to bite the bullet.

If there is even a remote chance that somebody is willing to give up a 7th round pick for Johnny Manziel there's no doubt in my mind that we can get something for Geno.

I hope so man, would be even more of a waste than it already is to get nothing for him. We probably have a better chance of getting something for Geno than the Brown's for Manziel. Reports are coming out that Jackson absolutely doesn't want him.

FWIW, I'm in the "no one will give up a pick for Geno" camp. Well, maybe we could move up 1 spot in the 7th for him.

Geno actually has huge trade value. Why? He has one full year remaining on his dirt-cheap contract. Not only is he better than most backups because he has two years of starting experience, but he is cheaper than most backups. Whether or not any team thinks Geno has potential as a starter, most would be happy with him as a backup for a year, so if Mac decides to go in that direction I bet we could get a mid-round pick.

Don't know about mid round pick, he'll be a free agent next year. Nobody is going to waste a 3rd rounder on somebody they can get for nothing next year in FA. 5th round pick is probably the most anybody would offer, maybe a conditional late round pick (see Fitz).

Anyway, looks like Bowles has tried again to get the Falcons special teams coordinator who he played with at Temple, one of the best special teams coordinators in the league (Keith Armstrong). Last year the Falcons blocked the move, looks like they again shut Bowles down. Would have been a huge addition. http://www.newsday.com/sports/footb...-not-likely-for-jets-special-teams-1.11306282

    3 more candidates:
    - Cardinals Special Teams Assistant Anthony Blevins.
    - Eagles ST Coordinator Dave Fipp.
    - Dolphins ST Coordinator Darren Rizzi.

They all have coached with Bowles at some point and they could be available. Whether he thinks highly enough of them to offer them a job we'll see I guess.

Why doesn't Bowles just give him a fancy job title like STs Coordinator and Assist. Head Coach? That wouldn't make it a lateral move. Eff the Falcons. I hope they never win another game. If I'm Armstrong and I really want to go coach with my buddy Herm, I sabotage the Falcons STs this season subtly. I come up with some new scheme that I know will fail, change the blocking assignments, something. I make them fire me.

I think the only position that doesn't fall under "lateral move" is head coach.

You would be a pariah in the leagues eyes if you did that & your longterm career aspirations will truly suffer... cutting off your nose in spite of your face is not the way to go.
