Yeah 8-5 and currently holding the 6 seed is the same as 6-7 looking waaay in. It must suck to be a Bills fan especially with that roster. It's playoff calibre including the quarterback play you've gotten this year. Too bad it's the most undisciplined team in football AND are bring coached on the defensive side of the ball completely wrong. We have 3 great pass rushing defensive lineman AND an elite 4-3 nose tackle. Let's hire a coach that can't coach offensive and will switch to a man blitzing 3-4 negating our strength!!!
its the best roster they've had by far since the early 90s teams. wasted opportunities last year and even worse this year as they had an easier schedule. they'll be rebuilding soon
I'm honestly curious what you think about Rex Ryan as a coach this year? The Bills went 9-7 last year if I'm not mistaken; at the very best, they can go 9-7 this year with a similar team but a new coaching staff. Do you blame Rex for not improving the team, or do you have confidence in him going forward? And what do other Bills fans think?
BOJ is the biggest homer ever so his opinion would not be a reflection of the bills fanbase. all in all Rex is taking a lot of heat today
I don't compare to last year. We were an 8-8 team but played the Pats week 17 who had nothing to play for and benched all their starters, giving us a 9-7 record instead. We choked down the stretch and lost to a bad, bad Oakland team and missed the playoffs. As for this year, people point to the penalties or whatever, but honestly, you're just not a good football team when you are missing guys like Tyrod Taylor, Lesean Mccoy, Karlos Williams, Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin, Charles Clay, John Miller, Seantrel Henderson, Kyle Williams, Mario Williams, Nigel Bradham, Stephon Gilmore, Aaron Williams, Corey Graham, etc. It was bad. If we miss that many starters for that many games next year we will continue to be an average team. If we have them together we will be tough. We'll see what happens.
Kerley can't be counted on, he always has some minor thing going on. I kind of missed seeing Thompkins out there anyway, he's a better fit and has shown more so far than Kerley has all year so hopefully he gets more snaps now.
Fitzpatrick, Mangold, Colon, Revis, Ivory, Cromartie, Decker, Richardson, Pryor, Enuwa, Powell, Amaro, Kerley, Allen, Williams, etc... You see how easy that is? Every team has injuries. The Rexes have had 124 penalties accepted them for 1086 yards. The Jets have had 76 penalties accepted against them for 646 yards.
Let's see if the Jets go get a returner...Kerley may not be available...hopefully Thompkins is ready.
Then compare yesterday (borrowed from another post): Rex after the Bills lose: "We were the better team out there…" Todd Bowles after the Jets romp: "If you're the Golden State Warriors you can have a trap game…….we're not that good." Oh and nice '180-degree' avatar.
When Kerley has been targeted he has caught the ball and gained yards, much has he has always done as a Jet. He is far more reliable than our other receivers, outside of Decker and Marshall. But he's not a great fit for Chan's offense and has hardly been used as a receiver. Kerley has shown about as much as he can, considering how little he has been used. As a returner, well that's a different story, it seems his arm is in the air calling for a fair catch before the ball leaves the punter's foot sometimes.
I think in the past I would have agreed with you but he hasn't played well this season and Thompkins in that one game (7 catches?) showed more than Kerley has all year. Ability wise I agree with you, I think Kerley is a good receiver, a great slot guy if used right (NE / GB / SEA like). But since Chan is looking for bigger receivers Thompkins seems to be a better option. Bilal Powell sort of took over for Kerley anyway, safety blanket type who runs screens and is always open over the middle.
I actually feel a little bit bad for Bills fans. All of the sudden they have to make excuses and try to say last year wasn't that good just to justify Rex and his horrible coaching staff. The Bills down the stretch last year had a very good defense. They shut down Manning and Rodgers on back to back weeks. They way they got after the QB was scary good. Rex has made that defense average at best. Do you believe in your heart that Marrone and Schwartz would be 6-7 right now? You were headed in the right direction, but then the clown car appeared. Sad thing is, you are stuck at least for another season, and maybe two. By then Rex will have had a hand in things enough that a lot of the talent you had will be gone. I think overall, the Bills have more talent on their 53 than the Jets do. (it's close, but overall I would give the Bills the edge). So why are they 2 games worse? Injuries? The schedule? Bad luck? Psst. It's the foot fetish guy in charge. He and is brother are both crappy football coaches.
You guys really have a hard on for Rex. Holy cow. Seems like you all will make anything fit your narrative of bitterness.
