Cause our linebackers aren't very good outside of David Harris. Bowles and this team are trying to find safeties to help cover the middle of the field. Jets need help and to me it looks like they are using safeties to cover up the deficiency at LB I watch the Packers a lot and when Henderson wasn't fucking up off the field with the Vikings, the guy was pretty decent in comparison to what we have now, he seemed to always be at the right place at the right time. He's got long ass arms and he's got a knack for making plays. He isn't a cover guy by any means. He's a sound tackler. Jets need that especially if Demario doesn't play well for us. Henderson made the pro bowl as a 4-3 outside linebacker, not saying he's a great player but if he can get back to where he was, he's our 2nd best linebacker. Plus, I'm rooting for more 4 man fronts on the line and Henderson was a good 4-3 outside linebacker.
Uhhh... Okay, I get it now. You are confusing Erin Henderson with his brother EJ Henderson, who actually did make the Pro Bowl once, right before he retired almost 5 years ago. Gonna step back slowly out of this awkward conversation now... ... have fun "watching the Packers", or whatever.
Actually you are correct in regards to his brother that's my bad. I always get those 2 mixed up, but Erin was still a good player before he fucked up off the field. That still doesn't discredit the other things I just said.
BTW me watching the Packers doesn't question my loyalty as a Jets fan. Sometimes I feel the Jets should've been what the Packers were with Favre but Ron Wolf left us. Maybe that makes me a Lil bitter
damn, I was hoping to be the first person in TGG history to post 5 straight times in one thread... thanks a lot ... for your viewing pleasure btw - http://turnonthejets.com/2015/06/toj-film-room-new-york-jets-ilb-erin-henderson/ if he comes in and plays well, you will thank me later.
As far as actual opinion, my best friend is a Bronco fan who used to go ape over Mays, and I've seen Henderson play a few times. To me it seems Henderson has the higher ceiling, and is younger too, so I get it. Ultimately I think Mays would contribute more this year, but it's not a big deal either way. I'm happy with our ilb depth after many years of crossing fingers. It's certainly better than Josh Mauga, and Nick Bellore.
so, we added 8 to our PS and could have added 10. Is there any rule saying we can't add two more now and I'm wondering who we may be waiting on to clear waivers.
You don't understand my point at all, I don't care if Geno is better than Flynn right now, Geno is not a NFL quality quarterback and we are wasting our time trying to make him one. He has had two years to make it, He failed miserably. We need to move on from Geno. With Flynn we would be looking to upgrade. The rest of the team is ready to move forward but I cannot see a turnover machine like Geno getting us anywhere. It's really a shame.
How can you borderline admit Flynn isn't as good as Geno and then say Flynn would be an upgrade? Also, there's a reason Flynn's career has gone the way it has. You probably don't wanna hear it though because your mind is made up.
Geno is the problem, no matter how bad he is they keep giving him more shots to make it. At least with Flynn the team would give him his shot and if he makes it great, if not we'll move on. IMO Flynn is the better choice, but the other guy thinks that since Oakland didn't like him he is a bust.
Oakland... and Green Bay. And New England. And Seattle. And Buffalo. And the Jets. But who is counting?
They could have signed Flynn without having to guarantee his contract. With Johnson they would have had to guarantee his deal if he was on the active roster for game 1. So maybe they will bring him back after opening day. They probably just don't want 4 Qbs on their active roster. If Geno was cut many teams would put in claims for him. He had more value than that. The thing is when would he be ready to play. It's not like in baseball when you can send an injured player to the minors for rehab starts. And we know he's a mistake prone player. If Fitz plays well he'll be a backup this year. If the Jets are eliminated early I assume Bowles would give him some starts.
