I think Davis is here right up until a TE is released that isn't hot garbage. Also thinking they could have done without Bowen and stuck Couples on the line for the time being; opening up a spot for Owusu.
They could just be waiting for their waiver number to come up for a certain TE or 2 that have already been released.
I think they must have figured these 3 were pretty much interchangeable and none were going to be stars, so they figured they'll stash one or two of them on the practice squad (its unlikely they'll all be picked up off waivers). Owusu was the best looking of these players but he was another concussion away from being done. My guess is that none get picked up and all three are available for the practice squad, but they'll probably only keep two. The better question is now who returns punts and kickoffs for them. Hopefully not decker. Probably Kerley.
I know there are a lot of Geno haters out there, but the simple fact of the matter is that you can't tell after two years whether a QB will be any good, especially when he had (i) changing OCs and offensive systems and (ii) the worst receiving core in the NFL for those two years. Let's see what Geno does this year (assuming he ends up starting). He had some pretty good moments in the past 2 years (and more really bad moments) but enough good moments to take a look at him this year and figure out whether we have our future QB or not.
He's shown flashes but he needs to do a better job controlling what he can control. Bad weapons and spotty playcalling does make a difference, but again he needs to do a better job of controlling what he can control and that's his decision making. Geno still has the benefit of upside, whereas Flynn is what he is and that's an average at best backup QB.
I won't be shocked to see Miles take snaps away from Pryor...I believe Bowles likes those 3 safety looks...shall be interesting.
smith had changing oc's, who do you think his oc was in the only two years he has been here? and the worst receiving corps in the nfl?
Kellen Davis will probably be gone after waiver pickups of a TE. Similarly Dakota Dozier will probably be gone after they pick up a backup center (maybe Dalton Freeman). I wouldn't be surprised if Owusu or Powell were picked up as a returner/WR once Milliner goes on IR tomorrow.
Sparano and MM were his two OCs with very different systems. Who do you think had a worse receiving corps over the past 2 years than the jets had?
Jets roster right now shows they don't care about returning kicks on special teams. Fair catch, avoid flags and such. Not a fan of that.
and you are basing that on what? Henderson hasn't been on the field while Mays is making plays from both ILB positions (another thing Henderson doesn't do). bad move imo...
Henderson was making plays in the first preseason game prior to his injury. Henderson can play inside linebacker in any scheme. I guess they felt Jones had more upside then Mays.
Lets not forget that they can have 10 on the PS who can practice with the team and get called up if someone gets injured - Owusu and Powell are prime candidates For me some of the others we had this off season who could also be good additions include; Eskridge (was thought to need time to develop as he came out too early), Saxton, Deion Barnes (got a lot of playing time even in week 3) with outside shots for Keon Lyn and Shaq Evans.
