Same here, but I was also stunned that Mays didn't make it. And I was more stunned that he was the first ILB to be cut. Bowles must really like Taiwan. But the same goes for Erin I guess.

What's so great about Taiwan Jones? Henderson easily the better player. If Jones makes it over Henderson either he had a set back or the Jets CS is making a crappy decision.

Well, Jones is 10 years younger, he's healthy, fresh legs, makes like half of Henderson's salary, he's bigger, he's got upside, he's hungry like every young guy, he's a special teamer, willing to do whatever to contribute. Henderson is better as an ILB and more experienced but is that enough? When it comes to backups the coaches usually look for versatility and youth. I'd agree with you that Henderson on the field is the better ILB but I think Bowles looks at the big picture. I'd probably pick Henderson as well and stash Taiwan on the PS. Nobody is going to pick him up.

I'm mad with the Flynn release. What more could he have done Thursday to prove he is back-up worthy? If you were going with Petty, should have given him more experience on Thursday.

His salary (1 mil.) would have been guaranteed for this year. If Geno returns in week 2 or 3 I can see why Bowles didn't want to pay him a mil. to not play and be a backup for like 2 games.

Amazingly, they cut Both Flynn and Johnson. Guess they're pretty comfortable with Petty's progress and will wait for Geno to come back.

Someone posted on here an article about how after the Jets can risk signing him after week 1 for a lot less. My guess is that Flynn wasn't told that, and thinks they really cut him. He's only gonna be a 1-2 week stop gap anyway until Geno comes back.

Nothing wrong with keeping both in some capacity. If Davis regresses or gets injured, we need an experienced linebacker.

Actually, it might simply be that one of these will be available to sign in the event of a serious injury, so maybe it's not worth tying up a roster spot now.
