Impressed with Mays, Jones, Owusu. O-line worked well together. Walter Powell played his ass off, needs to refine his technique (had a lot of penalties). Stacy played well again, Richardson was hot and cold, but when he was hot, he was hot. They shouldn't send Richardson up the gut to be honest. Walls and Williams did great. Not too impressed with McDougle. I don't remember hearing Babin or Reilly's name once, which is a shame since Reilly did pretty well for himself against the Giants.
Bowles tonight made it seem like Kerely was on the block. I never thought they would cut him, but after coach's response tonight it would not surprise me. It would be a mistake IMO.
Not many people agree with me on this, but I think McDougle will not make the roster. Revis, Cromartie, Skrine, Marcus, Walls, Milliner. That's already 6 CBs which is already most than the average team keeps. With the Jets probably carrying 4 backs (including Bohanon), numerous WRs, and 4 QBs (due to the Geno incident), they don't have the flexibility to keep 7 CBs. McDougle is the odd man out, and he's also listed as the lowest on the depth chart out of all the guys I listed at CB. That gives you perspective on how they view him compared to the others. However, I believe McDougle will be practice squad eligible. That being said, I doubt he makes it to the practice squad without getting claimed. What is trash for the Jets at CB this year is treasure for another team. I would even go far as to predict that McDougle will be a Buffalo Bill next week.
I'm sticking with my latest roster projection on page 17. None of the guys IMO did enough to warrant a roster spot. In fact I probably would throw Dex in there, as well but I'll go a little more into detail later in my observations from the Eagles game...
I obviously haven't followed your team as closely, but what happened to that guy? I remember seeing him a few years ago and thinking he was a really good slot receiver the Jets would have for a while. He was pesky to cover, especially on 3rd downs. What's happened since?
One thing I would watch for is Andy Levitre if he gets cut from the Titans. I would imagine he would want to reunite with Chan Gailey, especially since he'd have a chance to start.
Babin did not play, Reilly was in the backfield all night, unfortunately he couldn't wrap up on his tackles.
To answer your question, Kerley was like the big fish in a small WR pond when this team was starting the likes of Stephen Hill and Clyde Gates. He was a pretty good receiver for us in the past because he was honestly the only receiver over the past 4 years that looked like he even knew what he was doing out there. Fast forward to late last year, Idzik (who never spent any money) decided to give this guy a 4 year contract out of nowhere. So you could imagine Kerley is probably feeling like he has some job security. Then we picked up Marshall, drafted Devin Smith, Owusu was a week 17 stud last year, and Powell has been another off the street guy who has impressed. Add that to the fact that Kerley has been banged up and reportedly not acclimatizing to the new offense that well, you can see whyhe is now on the bubble. With all that said, if we decide to move on with him, I will never forget what he did here. We have been probably the worst NFL offense over the past 4 years or so and he was a lone bright spot. I wish him the best and I think there are probably at least half a dozen or so teams that could put him at the slot.
I think we should just role with two QB's until geno is back. If we are down to our third QB we probably aren't winning anyway. I would also like to see us move away from bohannon, babin and tj barnes and use the waiver wire to cherry pick some guys.
lmaoo wow.. idk if it was the weeeeeeeeed *stephen a smith voice* or auto correct! JOSH JOHNSON*********
Ok, since no cuts have been made yet, I'm going to take one last shot at it FINAL 53-Man Roster Prediction QB (3) Ryan Fitzpatrick Bryce Petty Geno Smith RB (4) Chris Ivory Bilal Powell Zac Stacy Tommy Bohanon (FB) WR (7) Brandon Marshall Eric Decker Jeremy Kerley Devin Smith Chris Owusu Quincy Enunwa Walt Powell TE (2) Jeff Cumberland Kellen Davis OL (9) D'Brickashaw Ferguson James Carpenter Nick Mangold Breno Giacomini Willie Colon Brian Winters Ben Ijalana Jarvis Harrison Wesley Johnson DL (6) Muhammad Wilkerson Damon Harrison Leonard Williams Leger Douzable Stephen Bowen TJ Barnes LB (9) David Harris Demario Davis Quinton Coples Lorenzo Mauldin Calvin Pace Erin Henderson Jason Babin Jamari Lattimore Joe Mays S (4) Calvin Pryor Marcus Gilchrist Jaiqwan Jarrett Rontez Miles CB (6) Darelle Revis Antonio Cromartie Buster Skrine Darrin Walls Marcus Williams Dexter McDougle ST (3) Nick Folk K Tanner Purdum LS Ryan Quigley P Dee Milliner PUP Steven Ridley PUP Sheldon Richardson SUS Oday Aboushi SUS Zach Sudfeld IR Antonio Allen IR Jace Amaro IR Kevin Vickerson IR Notes: -After reading about the potential of cutting Flynn AND JJ and then resigning one after Week 1 for salary reasons, I'm convinced the Jets will do this. -Replaced Dakota Dozier with Jarvis Harrison. I'm not sure they'd risk trying to move their 5th round pick to the practice squad. -Added Joe Mays LB. Bowles loves his LBs, so I think he'll carry 9 of them. Cimini has them taking Reilly instead of Henderson. However, I think they keep henderson. Bowles spoke very highly of Henderson at the presser and said that it's not as hard to evaluate him with his current injury because he was playing so well in practice and in games. -I feel like they will want to add another TE at some point, but for now I just have Cumberland and Davis getting spots. I could be very wrong about this since, due to injuries, they probably want to carry at least 3. -Acutally, I think they will put Milliner on PUP or on Short Term IR. I think McDougle ends up staying for this reason.
I like your roster and think its pretty close, but I think that Dee Milliner ends up on short term IR and they keep McDougle. I also don't see them keeping 3 backup ILBs and cutting Reilly. I could also see them cutting Kellen Davis and/or Bohanon and keeping Flynn. They also might find a way to put Petty on IR.
Yea I updated it since that quote. I think you're right about them sending Dee to Short Term IR or PUP. In that case, I agree, McDougle stays.
And that is my point, up till now it's just been a listing after moves have been made instead of a prediction as the title implies.
