Mariano is bitter and may leave anyway. Jorge could be affected by Torre not being back, Andy won't be and Jeter is under contract so that really doesn't matter at all.

I don't think Andy will come back with a new manager. Mariano and Jorge, who knows, but if Mariano leaves, I shudder to see our bullpen.

Andy left when Torre was still here so I don't see him being all that bothered by it. I agree, we have no one to replace Rivera with and there are no free agents who could even come close until after next year. They won't use Joba because he is too valuable as a starter. We would be in big trouble.

When you think about it, it's quite a ridiculous stance. They would leave because Torre wasn't rehired to go to a new team with a new manger that isn't Torre anyway? Huh?

Why is everyone hating on Mattingly? The guy is one of the best leaders the game is ever seen, and from all appearances, players think hes a fantastic coach. He immediately commands respect because he's Don Mattingly. I think if Joe goes and we hire Larussa, Mattingly definitely stays as the bench coach and gets a little more seasoning before he's ready to manage. Truthfully though if we get rid of Joe I'd love to see Girardi step in.

For me it's because for all his talents he's never won anything except for a batting title...

Nobody hates him. He just has never managed a baseball game at any level in his life. Not the right resume to take over the Yankees.

Girardi never managed a game in his life before taking over the yankees. True he's a catcher so one can say he's managed games his whole career but Mattingly was a captain and one of the best leaders the game has ever seen. He knows what it takes to be able to play in New York and especially how to handle the media.

Boy I hope its not Mattingly. Not that I didn't love the guy, but this team needs leadership, and the teams he played on had absolutely none. Plus he's learned everything he knows from Torre, this could be real bad. Girardi is the man.

Girardi learned everything he knows from Torre as well.... Bowa is the man for the job if Torre doesn't come back

What made Mattingly one of the best leaders the game has ever seen? We never won anything w/ Don leading us except a WC in his last season. Whee exactly did he lead us?

Girardi doesn't know what it's like to play in NY and handle the media? Go check the reception Girardi got from the fans and media when he was acquired and the manner in which he deealth w/ them and got them all to them like him. The man won 3 WS here, he's played on the biggest stage and he's had sccess doing so. He's also had success as a Manager.

The Marlins and the Mets are not the Yankees. The expectations are much higher, the media and fans much less forgiving, and the pressure by ownership much more intense.
