The 752 carries he had in 05-06 seasons have worn him out I think. That is a hell of a workload in a short time. He had 193 carries last year, the most since 2006.
1200+ carries for LJ in the last 6 yrs, his entire career 1200+ carries for TJ in the last 4 yrs alone, not even close to his entire career. 193 carries last yr means he wasn't used as much. I don't like the carries comparison. I tend to favor age and LJ is younger than TJ.
Curtis Martin had almost 1400 carries in his first 4 yrs in New York. Two yrs later, he was the NFL rushing champ while still carrying for way over 300 carries.
I'd love to have LJ here. He's a beast when healthy. Also isn't he good friends with Kerry Rhodes? I mean i think he'd want to play for NYJ because he has one of his good friends here.
The more I think about this the more I want to get LJ. I think he'd be beastly behind our o-line and TJ/LJ/Leon would be a FORCE. Not only that, it would fit exactly what we're all thinking the offense will need. A heavy dose of the run. Let's do this.
It comes down to money. Moving TJ this year would actually hit us for 2.1 million on the cap if he's traded and his bonus accelerates. It's a net savings of about 400k, which means we'd need LJ to sign for part time back money. We'd have to get him in for about $4 million against the cap, which is significantly less than what he was being paid in KC. That would also necessitate a straight extension for Leon's contract, rather than a new contract. Technically, it could be done. I'm not counting on it, though.
LJ missed alot of games the last two years I thought? I looked it up, he missed 12 games the last two years.
LJ + TJ + LW would be sick... who needs a QB if you have those three . LJ + KM + LW would be even sicker Give 4 million to LW, 4 million to LJ and 2 million to KM... and then over the years give less money to LJ and more to KM... I'd love this to happen (but I know it's fantasy football). I guess we can spend around 10-12 million a year for 3 RB being that we are a run first team.
