I think LT will be able to step right in, he played in a very similar offense when Schotty's father was coaching the Chargers - he'll probably be able to help McKnight more than Sanchez can as far as getting up to speed in the system. Holmes may take some time to get going, but I think he'll still be effective in a situational role in the slot early on. The biggest issue, and it isn't chemistry, it getting whoever wins the LG competition in sync with the rest of the line. It's so funny, you're right, we had more of a chance of chemistry issues in 2009 with 3 new defensive players taking leadership roles on the defense, yet there was only one player that outwardly was affected as far as chemistry goes (Rhodes) and the D was top-ranked in the league. On defense - well, there's no chemistry issue at all. Cromartie is going to be second fiddle to the best cover corner in the league, and he will need to pay attention if he wants to keep that job, because he'll have a hungry rookie nipping at his heels for that job. And Jason Taylor will be accepted into the team, even as he is reviled by the fans. He, as well as LT, will be a situational player, and knows it coming in. I love the situations they have put this team into. And I love the fact that rival fans hate it.
I think I'll take advantage of this useless duplicate thread to post some articles about Team Chemistry. Team Chemistry in Highly-Effective Teams Cool Story Bro Russ Pratt
"the Patriots last season. They weren’t the same without longtime leaders such as Tedy Bruschi [stats], Mike Vrabel, Rodney Harrison [stats] and Richard Seymour [stats] in the room." The real problem for the Pats was not in the lockerroom, it was on the field. Those four guys left and were replaced by people who didn't have the smarts and experience to play at their level. They didn't have the talent of the guys who left. The analogy does not hold up. The analogy to Madden's Raiders might be the better analogy. They were crazy, but they played lose, and won.
Lets go back and look at the pre-season talk coming from the National and local media: Team chemistry is F'ed up without Faneca, Jones and Leon LT is finished. The OL will fail without Faneca's leadership and talent Shonne Greene is injury prone and fumbles all the time The Jets will never win without Revis The Jets will not sell out this year Sanchez is not a top 20 QB in the NFL Cromartie is never going to have his 2007 succes Braylon and Holmes are bad teamates and bad humans Rex is a blow hard HOW WEE DEW INN FELLAS!!!!!!!!
In case you haven't noticed now people are saying we are lucky, apparently we were gifted the game against the Broncos by the refs. I could care less what they think because we are winning games and that's all that matters
You know what, this is the way it's going to be for the Jets. When the Colts were on their way to 14-2 last year, nobody gave a shit how many 'lucky' wins they had along the way. Same thing when the Pat's win games without 'style points', nobody says shit except for heaps of praise on them. If the same exact result last week happened to the Pat's it would've been, "Brady showed grit throwing such a long pass with the game on the line and he gave his guy a chance to make a play! He's the BEST EVER..." Same crap with the playoff back-in last year. The Jets were 'lucky' to get in. When the San Diego kicker misses field goals, it's only 'luck' that we won. Funny, I don't remember anyone saying the Steelers were just 'lucky' to beat us with Brien missing multiple field goals...
