I think if you sign a veteran player after Week 1 his salary isn't guaranteed for the year anymore. That might've played into it, though I don't really see why Idzik would penny pinch a guy making under a million.
I'm sure it all comes down to the Dollar, it always does. And if that's the case I'm sure the Jets also knew someone would have made a move to get him and we pulled the trigger. Glad he is back LOVE that slam down play.
A lot of the Jets seem like really nice guys off the field. Nelson, Colon, and Sudfeld seemed extra nice in terms of autographs and stuff. I saw some clueless folks getting autographs from the Hofstra security guards while I laughed my ass off.
I think its actually much simpler than that. They knew lankster and felt he was limited as a CB and they wanted to take a look at mcfadden and, in the case of additional injuries before Millner came back, they wanted to have mcfadden available because they think he's a better CB than lankster. They've now taken a look at Mcfadden, decided they liked lankster more and with Millner coming back its less likely that Lankster will have to play a lot of snaps at CB.
Hell yea baby Lanksters back!!!I'm sure the Green Bay packers offense is gonna shit themselves when they line up against Lankster.Jordy Nelson may even retire before the game just so he doesn't have to face the tough challenge of beating Lankster
I think Lankster's value is probably higher to the Jets than other teams. He is a pretty small guy, and his best use for us is as a dime CB matching up with teams like New England who utilize two slot receivers in the same formation, plus many other defensive schemes don't necessarily match up with that formation by using a dime package with 4 CB's. It makes sense that we didn't need him on our active roster vs the Raiders because how often were they going to play 4 wide with a rookie QB in his first start? The Packers will probably run some 4 wide sets to take advantage of our secondary, so we picked Lankster back up. Other than special teams Lankster's main value is man covering slot guys who are not crazy athletic but very quick, in the mold of Wes Welker and Julian Edelman. As I said before, lots of defenses would line up a safety over the 4th WR instead of a 4th CB so it probably wasn't a huge risk to cut him and bring him back. It's not that Lankster isn't a good player, it's just that the Jets value what he can do more than other teams probably do. The only team that runs a Ryan-esque scheme is the Browns, and they have Isaiah Trufant who plays a very similar role. The Jets and other teams have been known to cut players for a weekend with the intention of signing them back, like in 2012 when we did it with Bryan Thomas. There wasn't a whole lot of risk there either, for a similar reason: Thomas' value was really ideal for Rex's scheme, so the chances of anyone scooping him up were pretty slim.
I've always wondered how Lankster would do in Wilson's roll covering the slot. Lankster is small, really fast, and a great tackler. Plus he has at least 'some' decent DB skills. Seems like he'd be able to shadow a slot WR. Must not have long enough arms to give a slot WR a reach around and knock the ball down.
I don't know who you are or what you do for work. But there is no way on god's green earth you are even remotely as good as what you do as a guy like Lankster is at what he does. There are a few hundred guys good enough to make NFL rosters. There are millions that do whatever it is you do to get by. You're not in the same ballpark, not even the same sport.
You sound perfect for the Jets scouting department,According to you Lankster is a pro bowler, your hired
