OK thanks, but like Jetzz suggests, I was under the impression that the players would cave first financially and they needed the courts to stop the lockout and keep it stopped in order to have a chance of getting their way?

i dunno how quickly the real decision makers, longer tenured union players, and DeMaurice Smith will cowtow to the NFL because lower tier players basically start admitting they havent saved a penny

In other words: absolutely nothing has changed.

It's becoming more and more unlikely that a deal will get done before the summer. At this point I'm not expecting the season to begin as scheduled.

According to Around the league on NFL network a rulling hasn't been reached yet.

I don't see anything changing in this fiasco until at least August. The owners are going to push the players around until they cave in.

The Judge just granted the injunction to lift the lockout.

    Owners expected to appeal.

if they are serious, and not still jerking each other around, i think it'll still take a month.

They better get their act together soon. Training camp usually starts 3rd week in July, and that will be here before you know it.

From the report I read today, it sounds like neither side expects a deal any sooner than a month from now. I take it that means if everything goes smoothly. But missing from that report was any indication that either side has made any move toward the other. I am hopeful but skeptical that a deal will actually be reached.

The legal status of the matter can still end up being problematic. Imagine if in the middle of this the 8th Cir. rules for the owners. The only thing I think that has the owners at the table is that it is still up in the air whether the lower court's ruling will be overturned.

Of course imo were the 8th Cir. to uphold the lower court, that would end the lockout. Which would be great for the fans. But... I am hardly counting on that.

So it seems the somewhat indefinite legal status has both parties negotiating. Let's hope a deal is reached before the 8th Cir. drops another stink bomb.

That was the most depressing e-mail I have ever received. (ok... maybe not the MOST, but it sucked)
