Will check with my buddies in Pittsburgh for more, but in the meantime... Checked out a Steeler fan forum, he apparently has a problem with holding and offsides, in addition to injuries....however, he's a semi-positive quote that seems fair: The 29-year-old lineman has struggled with injuries and started just 13 games over the past two years after signing a five-year, $29 million deal in 2011. Pittsburgh has injected youth into their offensive line, and the team feels good about David DeCastro and Kelvin Beachum inside. Colon now hits the street as an unrestricted free agent, but he shouldn't have trouble finding work. When healthy -- and that hasn't been often of late -- he's a versatile lineman who brings experience at multiple positions along the line.
Maybe if he can also 'stay onside' , bloke needs to learn what the snap count is FFS . Maybe not so 'gangta when we give up 20+ yards every game
greatest penalty call ever! ferg colon mangold ducasse howard? should b able to run bhind that line at the very least. so far idzick is doing well with the limited budget. now bring me d.landry and barnes
dumervil is going to be out of our price range. denver was set to pay him 8 so he is going to want something in that range from anyone
While we're not making any big splashes we have quietly signed good value players, now we gotta get new safeties. Oh, and Kolb.
Was he part of the OL that destroyed us in the first half of the '10 AFC title? I like the move, just gotta stay healthy. Good price.
If he can stay healthy AND eliminate the dumb penalties, then he is gonna fit in well. The ground game could be very strong with Vlad, Thor, Colon, and Howard. Run the stretch to the left side too! We should still draft depth and maybe sign Moore again if nobody shows interest (as Colon is often injured).
To Be fair, he did play alot at RT as well which is most definitely NOT his position. I think (penalties aside) he would make a good RG, especially in the rushing game. If we are going to run the WCO then he may be able to play a bit a RT, but its sustained pass protection where he's giving up 'holds'. Also seems to have issues staying healthy.
i think slauson over moore. slauson on the bench fills 3 backup spots. colon can play tackle too. so between the 2 of them you have a solid plan for injuries
its painful to see so many fawn over how great every new guy is. colon is a decent player. well onto the backside of his career and now injury prone. he is also a mediocre pass blocker and is NOTORIOUS for penalties. so before we all cream our pants lets look at what he really is. he is as one guy said a stop gap and will not be around for too long. it is good to fill holes with these type of guys as the jets will not be forced to draft for need.
I agree with you, I'd definately take Slauson over Moore. Has Slauson drawn any interest from other teams yet?
