It could but I doubt it will. It might knock him out of the top ten. I'd imagine the Saints, Patriots, Chargers, Steelers, Colts etc. would line up to get him. Teams that can afford a red shirt year will be all over him. I still think the Dolphins will be heavily in on him. What's another shitty season for them?

Win as many as possible, I don’t care where we pick. However it’s often times easier to trade down from the 10-15 range than it is the 3-5 range as the cost is not as high for the team moving up or teams start to think that it’s too good to be true that a particular player makes it out of top 10.

I don't think there's any way he goes back to college. Maybe he doesn't declare for the draft until he's fully healthy but I doubt he'll play another college game. Why would he? He can still be a top 15 draft pick and possibly now go to one of the better run NFL franchises than bottom dwellers.

I'd also imagine he will kick and scream to make sure he does not go to Cincinnati. The only scenario I'd see him not declaring is if there are a lot of murmurs of them taking him.

Tua will most definitely come out as he won’t cash in his insurance policy if he returns.

If Doctors are correct and he will make a full recovery I’d bet he still goes pretty high if not to the Dolphins at 2-4.

There’s no way in hell he drops out of the first round, they’re reporting that he’s likely to start throwing again by spring so right in time for the combine/draft season. I’d bet my children’s college fund he goes in the first round, this league is all about QB’s nowadays.

I don't see them using a pick on a QB this year, especially on speculation. They need too many starters and the draft is risky enough already. Unless what you meant was that another team will be hungering to draft one of those guys, especially Tua, and we're sitting there where he could be taken and they offer us a bunch in trade. I could see that happening, but the odds are slim. It'd be a nice surprise though.

You should never waste a first round pick on a DT, unless your team plays a 4-3 defense. Mike Mcidiot never realized this--He spent 2 high first round picks on DT to occupy blockers in a 3-4, when 6th round picks like Foley can do that. No wonder no one rushed in to hire Mike Mcidiot when the jets FINALLY canned him.

We definitely won't use a pick on a QB. And rightfully so. Even if Darnold wasn't playing as he's playing, first round QB's usually get the duration of their rookie contract to make it work. Look at Mariota (benched in 5th year) and Winston.

But I could see a playoff team eyeing them up and giving us a nice package even at 14, 15, 16. Similar to what the Chiefs did to move up to get Mahomes. They traded a future first and third rounder to get him along with their 2017 first rounder.

reminds me of the super bowl eagles rotation of their DL.

seems like Leo just learned from Mo and it all went downhill from there. He’s cashed it in before he’s even cashed in

That's what I thought you meant but wasn't sure. It would be amazing if somebody lusted after a QB and he was sitting there in front of us! Just what the doctor ordered.

I like your plan for next year's draft. I would also add an edge rusher too.

Great assessment, I love Burrows as well.

Fromm is just doing what is asked of him, watching him play last week, he was throwing some beautiful passes down the sidelines.

Hurts is what he is at this point, not sure if he will ever make the transition, always ready to run with the ball.

If he couldn’t be developed in Alabama, not sure if he can ever make it as a passing first QB.

However I do agree that if Hurt is there in 5th round, why not take him.

I could be wrong about Leo, but he went from a team that uses a 3-4 to another team that uses a 3-4, maybe if he signs with a team like the Raiders who uses a predominantly 4-3 defense and is used as an edge rusher he might have some success.

Hopefully that’s “how many busts we drafted in round 1” moving forward.

    I think it will be.

In my opinion, the ability to draft well is more important than the team's location in the draft order.

Agree 100%. Not only drafting well but drafting football players and putting football people in management positions. I feel at times the Jets fell too in love with the measurables and not football players. Vernon Gholston and Stephen Hill come to mind. They have to draft football players. Look at the Colts last few drafts. They drafted players with good college stats and loved football. That's what the Jets need to do. Add in people in the scouting department and front office who love football. I believe Douglas has done that with the hire of Savage Hogan and some other people. Hopefully this offseason we see that philosophy change for the better.
