Hey guys, Sorry to bring up old threads. However, here is a article posted 2 days ago that is relevant about concussion discussion we had pertaining to L. Coles and football players in general. Here is the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/18/sports/football/18waters.html?_r=1&ref=football&oref=slogin
mr hanson, is that the article about andre waters? i saw something about that on espn.com. sad stuff. i just didnt feel like clicking the link instead of posting.
Yeah, I posted that article in the NFL forum. It confirms all my fears in regards to how disastrous and pathetic the NFL is in treating and handling concussions. I was angry with the Steelers for letting Ben Roethlesberger play the week after suffering from a concussion and I'm also angry with the Jets for letting L. Coles play with a concussion. It's something that left a bad taste in my mouth after such an exhilarating season. This league and its franchises cannot let these guys go out on the field and risk their futures for one or two extra games they are not going to be effective in anyway. It's one thing if a guy plays on a bad knee or with a broken hand, but this is their damn heads! A football player's life continues after he retires, which is usually 35 and younger. The thing they will need the most in those years is their brain. The league needs to step up and become more vigilant about protecting players from this type of injury.
