If Lowery was undersized and white, this would be the greatest move a Jet player has ever made. To bad Eric Smith didn't make this move........ wait, is he black?
Lowery had his ups an downs, but he was counted on multiple times to fill the starter spot and was outmatched a number of times. He's more than capable of handling nickel duties. You might want to re-watch the Chargers game if you think he was a detriment throughout the playoffs.
Cut him, he is a loser who doesn't want to fight for a starting job. We don't need guys who don't want to fight to be the best.
Geez, I didn't say at every minute during the playoffs he sucked. The Jets won the SD game, but look at the Colts game. Perhaps my memory is flawed, but I seem to remember the main reason the Jets lost was that Manning went after every corner whose name is not Revis.
Eh I don't think race has anything to do with this at all. A football player asking for someone else to start over him is a like guy giving his wife away because he can't get it done himself. With that said, Lowery's explanation is logical and is definitely team first. It definitely seems weird because it never happens but I think on the flip side it says a lot about Lowery being comfortable with his own role on the team and knowing his own limits.
Lowery was starting in place of Sheppard, who lost his job during that game. I agree that Lowery is not starting caliber, and he was overmatched playing on the outside against the speed that the Colts have at WR. He's not a complete receiver, and may be better suited at the safety spot, but I think he's do well at the nickel positon if they have to ask it of him in 2010.
True and revis knows it too! Now he is the one that is getting hosed fortunately! I think the Jets might have known that he would pull this stunt.
Mike Tannebaum is a genius. I have full confidence that whatever deal he strikes with Revis will be a good one.
I completely agree that Revis should be honoring his contract. The reality of the NFL is that NFL teams rarely honor contracts themselves so the players feel they have the right to also not honor their contract when they've outperformed it. Revis not only outperformed his contract, he has the perfect storm of holding a team on the brink by its balls in order to get what he wants. I don't agree with what Revis is doing, but I understand it. Some may call it selfish... others would probably call it good business. *shrug*
The other corners had the names Sheppard, Coleman. I like the names Cromartie and Wilson better. (I say the name Wilson even though he's never played a snap in the NFL but he's gotta be better than Coleman.)...
The "other corners" also included Revis. at the #2 spot Sheppard started 9. Coleman actually started a game. Lowery started 5. I dunno who started the other, maybe Strickland at cb? I think for purposes of discussion I am going to assume until proven otherwise that Revis is not playing for the Jets this year. That's not a prediction, just a way of making clear that worst if not likely case is one way to analyze how well the rest of the roster holds up to the harsh light of scrutiny. Imo, we don't want to depend too much on Lowery. He's just not that good.
If Revis does come back anytime soon I'd love to see Kyle dropkick his "mentor". Then he can get on with this stupendous mentoring. lol
It couldn't have anythnig to do with his GM telling him that he has outplayed his original deal and wants to tear up his contract and work up a lifetime blockbuster deal, could it? It's amazing how many people just gloss over that important fact.
That's different than taking the teams wish to reward him with a new deal, and twisting his coaches praise for his own player into 'Pay me more than Crazy Al Davis is paying Aso' It's just as amazing that everyone glosses over that fact. Rex talks Revis up as DPOY, Revis twists that into contract demands ? The next time (IF ever) Mevi$ plays for Rex, I can see it now..... Revis shuts down Randy Moss and picks Brady... Reporter: 24 had a pretty good game today, your thoughts coach....? Rex: hehehehe...Last time I said something good about the guy he held out and it cost us a bunch of money...Lets talk about Sanchez...
no team with a CB named Revis has EVER won the superbowl, so i'm not toooo concerened. just out of curiousity, could there be another DB out there that tanny/rex could trade for if The Revis is still holding out say a month from now???
There is more truth in that then you know. When you saw Ryan at his presser he said he was "surprised" to hear that but you could see the look in his face and what he really meant. "Why does this guy not want to play?"
Rex talks Revis up as DPOY. If you think that Revis bringing that up is 'twisting' it into contract demands, you are deluded. That's what anyone would do. Even you. Giving praise is one thing. Saying the guy is the best defender in the league is QUITE another. Tannenbaum tells him he's outplayed his contract. Countless football magazines and shows marvel at the epic season he put up in 2009. Revis' stock will never be higher than this. He's got bad agents and an uncle in Sean Gilbert and a mentor in Ty Law. I knew this would be difficult, and figured it would get this ugly. Anybody with any sense should have as well. What I didn't figure is the number of Jets fans that would be willing to throw their best player out with the bathwater during a contract dispute. I guess I should have known better. Do I think he should make Asomugha money? Part of me does, just because I realize how good he is, and I realize how important that Rex considers him, although Rex is saying the right things now. I know his contract demands are over the top, and I think he'll end up getting a nice deal from the Jets, but not nearly what his team is currently asking for. I am marveling less about what's going with the Jets than I am with the fans, though. It's kind of pathetic.
