Hightower looks good..both are solid football players ...hightower is just bigger..kuechly is an all around player...its a win win
We have been debating this for a short while.. Hightower vs Perry (ILB vs OLB). I guess it's all about how both of us value the position and who is available at #16. I know you're big on bringing in Perry and he has skills to be a very effective OLB. With the decline and probable release of Scott, the inside needs to be addressed. I also get that teams generally don't value inside backers as high as the outside. But no one can deny Kuechly's value at #16 and his potential value to the Jets. I understand the need for another 3-4 OLB, but Pace and Scott can hold the fort for a very short while (it hurts saying that) and playing Maybin on passing situations. Also, we can address OLB in Rd 2 and beyond, I'd have no issue getting Lewis, Curry or McClellin in Rd 2. I have no problem drafting linebackers in Rd 1 & 2, because I still think we may pickup a WR & OT/G in the later part of FA. Passing on a talent like Kuechly could be a big mistake. I don't believe he's strictly a 4-3 LB, he's a lot stronger than people realize and uses his hands very well to get off blockers. Kuechly has great instincts and reacts quicker than any other defensive player in this draft. He isn't the fastest/quickest player, but isn't a slug either. If Tanny uses the BPA approach there will be no question that Kuechly will be drafted over Perry. Our chances got better that Kuechly might be available, but teams like Seattle & Carolina (visit is already set) might have him in their plans.
