Most of this I agree with, which is why I'm saying--why do people look at 8-3 or 3-0 and suddenly think this is now what we are, then be shocked when the same thing happens that has happened for 40 years or so? You mentioned three franchises in the past 20 years or so who caught lightning in a bottle and turned their fortunes around, there are 27 or 28 other teams who haven't. I'm not saying don't be excited when we look good, but you can't look at a winning streak and think that's what we're going to be from now on because most teams never are. It just leads to needless head scratching when we come back down to earth. When we're really good and really have a chance--like the run we made at the end of 1998 or even 2002--there will be no questioning it, we'll know. I've said this many times on here, it's not about the fan, it's about the bar set by the team. I'm a Devils fan, too--same me, same Italian Seafood--but my expectations for them are much much higher every year because they have established themselves as such. Then you take the Knicks, I'm thrilled they managed to get themselves to 2-9 last night. Does that make me a worse Knick or Jet fan than a Devils fan? I don't think so, I think years of watching my teams has instilled a certain sense of reality of who they are until they prove otherwise.
