I like Rex and I believe he deserved a extension even after the end of last season

This appears to be a major factor that may go unnoticed in here.....

our coaching history has not been stellar with regard to NFL players wanting to come here. Many wanted no part of walton, coslet, mangini, even edwards to a degree. add to that the non-sense of giants stadium and the expensive NY area....

with rex aboard and a new stadium the tide has definitely shifted and the jets are on the plus side of the ledger - especially with the showing this year. finishing this year battling for the playoffs will go a long way in attracting a key FA or 2 later on.

Lets also not forget that the Giants stink this year, and all the talk is how the Jets are exceeding expectations and the Giants haven't lived up to theirs. I doubt Woody wants to switch up an obvious winning formula and go back to being second fiddle in New York City.

I think this is basically a done deal unless there is a complete collapse and we only win 1 or 2 games after the bye, and in ugly fashion.

This year is about redemption and fighting against all odds.

Without Rex as our leader we wouldn't even have had a chance, he gives us that fire we need to keep on fighting and so far he has proven it.

    In Rex we trust.

Let's evaluate the situation in the offseason.

Since I started following the Jets, late 90's, I have typically given each coach 3 years, and after that, I'm ready for the next one. Groh, Edwards, Mangini. All decent, but not great. Rex Ryan is a great coach and I will be upset if the Jets let him go. I have 100% confidence in his ability to bring a Superbowl home for the Jets. Edwards and Mangini are both out of football now, Rex has been here for 20+ years and you know if the Jets fire him, he'll have a job 10 seconds later. He should be here as long as he wants. I just hope we have the QB (Geno) that can help him win it all.

Rex coming here was the football gods balancing the books for the Belichick bail.

Not saying he's perfect, and not saying he's Belichick, but he's the best fucking coach we have had in a l-o-n-g, l-o-n-g time. I say extend the shit out of him and let's boogie.

    ....then extend Morningwig.......and Lee......

The players are absolutely right on this....
I'm glad they are onboard, and have a little extra motivation to fight for!

His players love him? I keep hearing that again and again. He's had five years. That's the litmus test for every coach in the NFL. If he makes the playoffs this year, he keeps his job. But if he doesn't I think Idzik and Woody will go elsewhere.

Like calling TO and running the ball TWICE at the end of the Saints game when we would've just taken a knee and been done with it? Dude ... ever hear of Joe Pisarcik?

In spite of his flaws, he gets this team ready to play. He is a master motivator, especially when the team is being doubted, and he is the perfect coach for the team right now.

I think the next step in his progression is going to be motivating the team to win games where they are the favorites, and crushing an inferior team's will. I want to see a blowout ... in our favor for a change. Of course, personnel is going to have a big say in that mindset, and we are a ways off from getting there.

In 5 years he'll have had only 1 losing season, along with 4 playoff victories.
That is with serious limitations at the QB position, and through a rebuild.
    That passes any litmus.

Idzik and Woody are not going elsewhere, nor should they..

I can easily see David Shaw on the Jets sideline, in the future. Guy can coach any type of team and has NFL experience.

This is so wrong it is not even funny.

So your saying that even though he went to the AFC Championship game twice in 4 years and made this team relevant again, if he doesn't make the playoffs this year he's done?:rofl::rofl::rofl:

If you honestly think Idzik and co. expect him to make the playoffs with a rebuilding team, you are nuts LMAO

IMO, Rex needs to finish 8-8 or better. Finishing 2nd in the division would help as well. 2 straight 2nd half of season meltdowns makes this years 2nd half very important. All he needs is 3-4 the rest of the way. If jets go 2-5, maybe he shouldn't be back.

Agreed. The Jets coming off a bye and a big win should be sky high for Buffalo. That and how we play in the two Miami games are going to factor in this.

If the Jets play hard good football down the stretch the wins and losses take care of themselves. If the team shows the look of a boxer on queer street Rex is likely done.

I almost forgot how fat he used to be. This team needs continuity and Rex is the man. He shouldn't be blamed for the Schotty's and Sparanos that the former GM put in place.

"Truth be told, I’m stunned. There were plenty of forces working against him." Yeah, and you're one of 'em. STFU Manish, you little prick.
