Jenkins had only one year left on his contract and has injury and weight issues in his past. Carolina wasn't totally insane for taking a 3rd and 5th in exchange for one year of Jenkins. I think the Jets signed him to a long term deal, I think that was part of the whole deal.
I think once Mangold was quoted saying playing against him was a pain in the ass during TC Jenkins became legit. After week 1, an elite NT. After yesterday, God. After Next Week - the creator of all things living and non-living. After the Season - he began the universe. :drunk:
Yessir, somebody should. He not only destroys the double-teams thrown at him, he also fires up the rest of the line whenever he is in there. He's our best DT since Klecko.
This thread should be a sticky! Jenkins is easily my favorite player on the team. He single handily changes games. I wish I could post vid of the first Int Edwards threw. Jenkins annihilated Whittle and scared Edwards into throwing that pick. Check this thread out over at Bills land. http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?t=93339 One quote from the post sums it up...."yeah i saw it, it was like a freight train running over a human being. I saw whittle on his butt the whole entire game"
our defense is basically living and dying by how Jenkins goes. is that a good thing? can he stay healthy all season?
I honestly can say Jenkins has surpassed Rhodes for me for the most exciting Jets player to watch. When the ball is snapped and the Center is already getting pushed back it's awesome...And he's quick to for a huge guy! It's very gritty and has to be a rough job to face constant double teams, but it looks like he has fun taking on extra people.
Last week I gave the nod to Washington in that team MVP poll. That was probably a mistake, but not admitting it this week would be even more of one. Washington may be Offensive MVP, but Jenkins is the team MVP.
http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?t=93310 Another post with Jenkins envy. Read the first entry.
True but the Jets set up his contract in such a way as to make him a loser if he didnt show up in great shape and perform well. So while I agree with you, he was a question mark when the trade was made, the front office knew what they were doing before he put on pads to give this "risk" the best chance of working out. Teams cant run on us...and as a Jet fan..typing those words isnt easy..and I never thought I would ever believe that. This guy is the most dominating performer I have seen play for this team in decades. Yes..its only 8 games..but it could be only 3 games...its enough to look back and just say wow. He truly does make everyone better.
What is great about all this is that the reason the Bills have owned us for the past few years is that they have always controlled the line of scrimmage. This was the first time in the past ten years that I can remember us really taking it to them in the trenches, and does it feel great!! Speaking of that post you linked, all the posters after are so delusional it is mind numbing. Here is the very next post:

Hey, here's a Peter King quote from the offseason on Jenkins: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=787809&postcount=1
