1) If and when Jenkins needs a breather during the course of a game we have Pouha is is around 330 and I think will prove to be a very capable backup. Not even New England has a guy that big backing up Wilfork. 2) Jenkins made the Pro Bowl at 340 but he wasn't playing NT in a 3-4. It's a different position so I'm not too concerned about the target weight being 360. 3) The key is going to be getting a good pass rush. The idea is for Thomas and Pace to be pressuring the QB so linebackers aren't covering wide receivers for very long. Rhods and Revis are up and coming stars and we still have time to round out the rest of the secondary.
the weight clause probably has a fine attached for being overweight, which I believe is SOP for most NFL teams. start taking a man's cheddar and he'll get where he needs to be. I'm not worried.
Revis played very well in the second half- you should be excited what you saw . But its way to early to think hes an elite Cb right now. Please. Again I will say it again FWashington had a better rookie year than Revis. Only to really struggle in 2007. Lets see if It really was the light going on for Revis ,or other factors that contributed to him looking alot beter in the second half. Still Revis is only one Cb and you need at least two more CBs. Rhodes coverage also picked up in second half ,after being very shaky in the first half. IS it coincidence that both revis and rhodes) picked up at the same time . Only timer will tell. Two players does not make a secondary.
Jets D >>> Raiders D It amazes me how you worry so much about the Jets D when the Raiders have soo many more question marks, and soo many other positions. I think you should take your head out of Al Davis right now. I also love how you say the pass wont be stopped by Thomas and Pace, you obviously know nothing about Pace he is an ALL-AROUND player not just a pass rusher. So it does work. But according to you, because the Raiders failed with it (ignoring the fact that the Raiders FO refused to give Ryan the players needed to properly run a 3-4) then it can't work at all. Point 2) Once again you are full of crap. Did you watch Harris last year at all? When he wasn't chasing the QB, he was a ballhawk. There is a reason QBs stopped throwing in his direction. And Pace is very good in coverage, he is probably better in coverage then rushing the passer. Please try reading, I never said Gholston was a coverage LB. His specialty is rushing the passer, which frees up a guy like Pace to drop back, or Harris to blitz. Point 3) Otay genius lets go slow. 3-4 Wr sets. You have Revis, Rhodes, shutting down their parts of the backfield. Which frees up average players like Barret or Smith since they don't have to worry about as much area. Then you have Harris blitzing up the middle, with Pace, or Gholston (if that is who they draft) coming from the outside. With that much pressure, the QB has no time to throw. This is the formula the Pats have been using for years. If you were a fan of a decent team I would give you the benefit of the doubt. But every year I read the same crap about how the Raiders are going to be SO good and they have such a better roster then the Jets. I forget what was the Raiders record the past 3 years? Yeah...
And everybody is forgetting about who our first round pick may be. Long or Golston. I would take my chances with Pace and one of those two against any other pair of OLBs in the league. Maybe the Giants would give them a run.
1.Like Pouiha was a force last year( still has time to mature - what is he thirty years old) Jets second half resurgence on defense was alot to do with Gimmick mangini employed. Standing up his defensivelieneman(that Gimmick only works so long) Jets who couldn't rush the passer, started to get alotb of pressure, as team had trouble picking up there blocking assignments. I think thats why revis and Rhodes did so much better in coverage after struggling in the first half. 2 Jenkins never played in a 3-4 defense. He should be able to play there and be sucessful. still only time will tell. The Point is Jenkins is there to stop the run. IF Jets are suspectible to the pass , what good is having that run stuffer, when teams are hurting you with the pass. 3.Comeon B Thomas+ C Pace haven't exactly been solid passrushers. B thomas I believe had eight sacks two years ago. ( another gimmick - exotic blitz packages) and calvin pace high is 61/2 sacks. Thats not going to get it done. Im sticking with my contention you can rotate both in the lineup, but you can't play both together. Both very similiar players that don't complement each other very well.

K morrison 6'2 240 0- one best LB in coverage too. With raiders size up front wouldn't have to deal with alot traffic. ILB Sam williams 6'5 260 Raiders best run stuffer. Letsc SEE two shutdown CBs + very good tacklers N Asomugha and Deangelo hall . FS M Huff- One of the best coverage Safeties in the game. takes out best TEs out of the game. Gibril wilson- very solid tackler whose coverage isn't bad. Want to dispute any of this.
Again we will see if either C pace or B thomas is good in coverage. Really don't care what he did with Cardinals 3-4. They might have had easier marks than pace to exploit in coverage. Excuse you sir, you are completely wrong. The Oakland Raiders Run Defense was not the WORST in the NFL, meaning the 32nd ranked. They were the SECOND WORST!!! 31st Ranked!!! That one difference makes a HUGE difference in going 4-12, and sucking horribly for 5 seasons in a row. How dare you call them the WORST defense in the NFL when clearly they are better than the WORST..... by 1 :up: Raiders suck
