Independent statistician John Turney did extensive research on pre-1982 sack numbers by looking at film and going through play-by-play data. Jones recorded 26 sacks in the 14-game 1967 regular season. He did not record a sack in L.A.'s 7-28 loss to Green Bay. He then apparently recorded 6 sacks vs Cleveland in a Playoff Bowl. Green Bay and Dallas met in the NFL Championship Game. Those teams had defeated L.A. and Cleveland, respectively, in the Conference championship games. L.A. and Cleveland then played in what was essentially a consolation game. This practice only occurred for 5-7 years.
The Playoff Bowl was played from 1960-1969 http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=26946 http://www.mmbolding.com/BSR/The_Playoff_Bowl.htm
Off the top of my head, I was thinking 60-67 or 62-67. Somehow I had the idea that it stopped after '67.
