I'd be very disappointed if Cousins elects to go to Minnesota instead of the Jets but I will be absolutely soul-crushingly devastated if somehow we end up with Case Keenum as our bell cow QB next season. Ughh. He's a nice enough story and seems like a nice guy but as a fan I just don't want that being our QB. Out of the literally dozen + possible scenarios so help me god that better not be the one that happens.
It would be awful. To go from Journeyman QB Fitzpatrick to Journeyman QB McCown to Journeyman QB Keenum, all I could think is Mac is a moron with QB's. Whoever he signs with, he will sign with to start. And then he will suck. Bank on it.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
The Jets are going to have to bring in a veteran QB regardless of who they draft at #6. He can’t go into the season with Hackenberg, Petty, and a rookie.
Cousins is the only FA Qb that should steer the Jets away from a QB at 6. It doesn’t matter who the vet is as long as it doesn’t keep them from picking BAQB at 6.
I'll say it again ..3/14 can't come soon enough.. Unfortunately 70 percent of TGG will be on Prozac after the Groom doesn't meet us at the Alter
The FA picture will become much clearer by Monday. Once teams get to meet with agents at the Combine, offers will be made and values determined. Tags will be applied accordingly.
Pablo Escobar: “Everyone has a price, the important thing is to find out what it is” The Jets are going to have to pay more for Cousins than Denver and Minnesota, the question is how much more. At the end of the day my bet is that if the Jets offer $2-3 mil more year than the everyone else he is a Jet. The union is going to put a lot of pressure on Kirk to take the $$$.
With no Cousins I agree. The only other possibility in my mind is if they wanted to try to slab something together with Bradford but healthwise that's a rather leaky vessel to be putting your faith in. And really this shows the no-brainer-ness of (trying to) signing Kirk Cousins. Done, position is finished business, draft some exciting prospect at #6 and go for the playoffs. Without him.... obviously you get no Quenton Nelson, Chubb, Barkley etc in the draft and you get a 3X (at best) passed over rookie that you now have to hope to god develops into close to what Kirk Cousins is after a lost season or two of growing pains. Or at least close enough that you can compete. And again... that'd be if your lucky. There is also a 3 or 4 out of 10 shot that it would just simply be a multiple season-wasting dumpster fire. To me that difference is stark.
Cousins to Minny opens up guys like Bridgewater who is a good QB and will come at a lower price. Not the end of the world even though I prefer Cousins. My first option is to play the kid honestly. Let Hackenberg sink or swim, that’s a risk we should take that doesn’t have a negative impact long term.
Let Hack sink or swim? News Flash: The next time Hack comes to the surface it will be because dead bodies eventually float to the surface.
I don’t know if I could disagree with a post any stronger than I do this one. Bridgewater sucked before a career changing injury that he’s yet to come back from and Hackenberg is worse.
2018? So which team did he lead those drives against.? I'm headed to Vegas now to get that bet in lol.
I hope MM allots plenty of time evaluating the QBs at the combine...it really should define what his steps in FA will be.
