Irvin played in Dallas not Miami. I like Reed and Carter neither of them were as dominating as Irvin in his prime run. I'm not sure I would put any of them in the HOF but Irvin in his prime run was better than both of them.
IF Keyshawn gets 1,000 he probably would get in. I wonder how much stats actually count to get in though. I mean Art Monk had way better stats than Irvin and he still hasn't gotten in. I think what allowed Irvin in was the team he played on, and the superbowls he was apart of.
Go look at the stats year by year, you're simply wrong about Monk and Irvin. The biggest robery yesterday was Ray Guy.
your are definitely right about Ray Guy, they have an award named after him!. I was mistaking Monk, for actually Reed, who in my humble opinion should be in.
chris carter is 2nd alltime in receiving tds....and had an amazing 5 year run with over 10 tds irvin had over 10 tds once in his career....i thought he was a dominating player who had some tds taken by a great cast, but his superbowl rings got him in
in terms of stats...Terrell OWens is a lock for the hall of fame...he absolutely dominates irvin/keyshawn and stat wise TO will be top 4 alltime by the time he retires any arguments for TO being a first ballot hall of famer?...he already has 49 more tds than irvin
Carter is going to go in, he also played in a Dome and had another team in he's division in a Dome. That's 9 games a year inside.
Heck no. Michael Irvin was a key part of 3 Super Bowl teams. Keyshawn has won one Super Bowl and was not even close to a key part. And not to back up Michael Irvin, because I dont like the guy, but lets get the story right. He was found with drugs once while he was partying, give the guy a break he was out partying. Irvin was/is not a drug addict.
If you want to use metrics like writing putrid selfish books and calling out teammates/coaches, using your mouth more than any other part of your body and last but not least being a selfish bastard than Keyshawn is definitely the second best WR of this era behind only T.O. Definitely a shoo in for the HOF. If you want to use real football stats and opinion than Key barely makes the HOVG let alone HOF............... hell no to the HOF. Personally, I think Michael Irvin should not have been elected before some ridiculous oversites of other players. However, he has ESPN and many other former players lobbying like crazy for him. Oh well maybe Klecko, Derrick Thomas (yeah yeah I know he passed away), Richard Dent, Bob Kuechenberg, and some others should go out smoke some crack than find jesus.
Take a look at their post season numbers and their YPC. Carter played on some great teams that choked as well, 1998 and 2000 teams right in Carter's prime and he was a none factor. The 98 game was a home game mis-match that was one of the all time chokes in NFL history. The rings matter especially when the guy your comparing him to had the opportunity and did nothing.
Im sorry guys, but do anyone of you remember watching Art Monk play? Monk is a hall of famer, no doubt about it.
....marvin harrison better show up today or he is garbage too his postseason numbers are terrible...but he is wayyy better than irvin
who said he was garbage? Carter will go into the HOF. Not one of my favorite WR's but garbage? And yes if Harrison comes up small again it will effect how he is looked at.
So what exactly is the standard for WR getting into HOF. I thought 750 receptions and over 11 000 yards would be for sure enough??
Keyshawn was a starting WR in that Superbowl and caught six passes for 69 yards. Not exactly MVP material but enough to be a key part of the team. He was Tampa's # 1 receiver because he was an excellent blocker and decoy in addition to his statistics. Also, without Keyshawn and his 1,000+ yards receiving in the regular season, the Bucs would have been lucky to make the playoffs as a wild card team. The Bucs had a good defense for close to a decade before winning the big game. The reason they won that year is beause they beefed up their offense. Keyshawn was a part of that and he earned his ring. Like I said in my last post on this thread, he is on the outside of the hall of fame looking in unless he gets another chance to play in a Superbowl. Only then would he get an outside shot of making it.
