No, their speeds are not comparable. White is much closer to a burner while Cooper is more of a possession guy. He's not going to be wide open or score as much in the NFL. I think both will be great players but White will be much more explosive. _
I would also take White and I'm sure one of them will be there when we pick..probably can't lose with either.
Cooper is a future 100 catch receiver, I doubt White ever hits that particular ceiling. Cooper also, a 4 down player at the next level. Cooper is still a big time threat - not in the style of Kevin White, but to say Cooper isn't explosive, is pretty funny.
The same reason I wanted Jeffrey....... you take the guy with the proven hands / track record. Cooper. but I wouldnt mind either
White has a higher ceiling than Cooper. Cooper is more pro-ready though. Can't go wrong with either, but if we're following your logic, which I agree with, you take White. Marshall and Decker have those outside spots locked up for a couple seasons so it's much easier for us to take a player who may be a bit raw, but has a very high ceiling. What I like about White is he's a guy who's had it rough and has had to really fight to get where he is. He plays angry and won't take anything for granted. Guys like that are dangerous.
White and Hill are not comparable, though I do see your point. White actually produced and produced big at that.
I said there speed is comparable because of their 40 times at the combine. I agree that White is more explosive, but Cooper has also shown some big play ability.
Yup. A speed burner. Cooper whilst a great prospect is not nearly as fast or as physical. Better route runner for sure but White is the more explosive player. _
The 40 times didn't match up when they showed them running against each other in the 40 yard dash at the combine. It looked like they ran the same time or Cooper was actually a little faster.
White is an interesting prospect no doubt.. He can be a highlight guy in future. but Cooper is a very clean prospect, with a very high floor. i think he's a can't miss in terms of getting value on the pick, and producing sooner than later. type of player who will always find a way open, move the chains, be dangerous anywhere on the field.... i think with the right QB, he is a 100 catch WR. all that to me is more valuable than the big play threat.
White ran a 4.35 and Cooper ran a 4.42, and those times are official. The combine numbers are pretty precise, the whole reason it exists is to measure numbers. I'm pretty sure their clocks are calibrated and tested prior to, so to say something like that is pretty dumb imo.
And if you've seen both of them play, Cooper has never appeared to be a burner. Great crisp route runner, physical to the ball. White is blazing fast, and while not as precise as a route runner, a MUCH more physical receiver going after the ball and a much more violent runner after the catch. _
With all the money spent on the Defense in Free Agency, it only makes we go Offense in the draft. I know some are clamoring for a OLB and I get that. But all we did was replace Harvin with Marshall (upgrade but not enough to turn us into a legitimate offense) and that isn't enough. We still lack speed at Running Back and Wide Receiver. Our Front 7 was top 10 last year in Sacks. Adding an OLB would be nice but we're negating the Offense all over again. One side cannot hoard all the talent. The key is to build a balanced team. I don't think we're winning a Super Bowl next year so let's start drafting some weapons for a change. Personally I would go White/Cooper first round and Gurley/Gordon second round. You would have our Front 7 and a elite secondary on Defense and Marshall,Decker, Kerley, Cooper/White, Amaro and Ivory, Powell, and Gurley/Gordon on offense. This is the right approach.
Hard to imagine Gurley lasting until the second, and Gordon could go before our pick. Then what? You could wait another round and hope Ajayi falls. He's not fast but he can be a three-down back. Have to think Oakland goes WR. In the case, we will have the choice to draft either a pass rusher, MM, White/Cooper. MM and Beasley go 2 and 5, then I'm fine going WR over Fowler/Gregory, to be honest.
Go to youtube and search Amari Cooper vs Kevin White. In the video, it looks like Cooper was slightly faster than White.
