Kevin '24K' Smith carried the ball 39 times for 284yds [7.3 ypc] and 4TDs To help UCF win CUSA... His 284 yards puts him 2nd in NCAA single season rushing yards, surpassing Marcus Allen, and is now just 180 yards behind Barry Sanders for the record.
Just another awesome game by 24K...and it's just amazing to watch him blowing by the defenders in the 4th Quarter with 35 carries already.
No, I was watching him dominate Tulsa earlier and they mentioned something about "regular" season rushing totals.
Really? I thought it counted for the record, even though Barry played one last game, but that does make sense. Personally, him claiming 2nd place is awesome enough for me.
Hey, he's only a junior. He can go for the record next year...unless his draft stock raises, like it should, and he leaves early.
Barry Sanders has the record and he did it all in the regular season, without the bowl. I saw something again today on Fox Sports Net about Sanders doing it without the bowl and Kevin Smith will have 2 extra games to break the record.
Yea, back when Barry broke the record, the bowl didn't count towards the season totals.. now the NCAA does count the bowl game. Regardless, finishing in between Sanders and Allen is a feat in itself.
Actually, now everyone is saying that Smith will be given the record if he breaks it during the bowl, and he should break it. I just don't think it's fair to someone like Barry Sanders that put up those insane numbers in 4 less games than Smith. Smith ran all over teams this year, and if breaks this record, I'd look for him to enter the NFL draft.
He doesn't deserve the Heisman...he deserves the Doak, but McFadden will get that because he's the better PLAYER. If Smith does this all over again next year, he will win the Doak and be top 3 in the Heisman. In Mid-Major conferences, it's all about repeat performances.
...actually Darren McFadden plays Missouri on Januray 1st in the Cotton Bowl. Darren McFadden > Kevin Smith Smith's stats > McFadden's stats SEC > C-USA
I know you said the "REAL" #1 RB...I was just letting everyone know that the Doak winner isn't playing tomorrow. It's not BS. If Kevin Smith entered the draft, he's probably go late first, early second, while McFadden is a lock to go in the top five, unless he dies or gets a career ending injury. Kevin Smith is great and so are his stats, but McFadden is the best running back in the country, not Smith.
Yes D-Mac plays in the SEC...but do not let that fool you. He also played FIU, troy, North texas, and Chattanooga... Here is a good indicator: D-mac played Miss St and had 88 Yards on 28 carries 0TDs 24K plays State today...
