He has to say that, he's ben a Titran for years but this Titan team isn't really close to our '98 Jet team. We had a huge edge at QB, WR, LBs, DBs, CS. They have the edge at RBs(Curtis wasn't great in '98) and on the DL, the OLs are similar. I don't think they'd be able to stop our O. let's see of they can stop our '08 O next week b/c our '08 O isn't close to our '98 O.
I'd like to see Jacksonville beat them this Sunday, I still would like a shot at #1 seed, and a home game late January. After Denver in '98 I have been secretly harboring that dream. At this point it still could happen.
Mawae had been severly injured and was making a pretty big contract. It wasn't clear if he was going to be able to come back and play at the level his contract demanded. Also the fact that Kevin was an older, outspoken veteran played against him. Mangini was young and a brand new coach. I don't think could have handled somebody like Mawae. An older, more established coach like Parcells, Coughlin, Fisher, etc would have had no problems with him. Releasing Mawae was unfortunate for the Jets since Mawae went on to several good years in Tennessee. We could have really used him on our OL in 2006 and 2007.
The only difference I see between KM and NM is that Kevin was considered a dirty player. Faneca will only help Nick develop into his full potential.
Id take Mangold over Mawae anyday of the week.Mangold is not a locker room bigmouth or a press crybaby like Mawae is. Jenkins will make Mawae want to retire watch and see.
