can you site some credible ocurrences where your spidey senses have come through for you? or was that larry Brown knicks reference said occurence?
Let me guess...Mawae is this "inside" leak... I hope the players hate him. Good. Bout F-ing time we had a coach who wasn't a pushover and likened his team to "Shrek".
One thing is for sure, Kevin Mawae needs to take his ripped bicep and over the hill resume and move on with his life. Rumors were pretty widespread that Kevin was a bit of a troublemaker when he was here with the Jets. I liked him a lot...and never bought in to that stuff...but it seems there may be some truth to it. Who the hell is he to even comment about this coaching staff...he was injured and long gone when they got here. As far as Mangini is concerned..this is a no lose rumor. If its true...good..no..great. Lets find out who wants to win and who wants to pout this year. Right off the bat. If its not true...then the players are content with a coach who is no nonsense and doesnt take crap from his players. After 5 years of kissing their ass...smiling and laughing on the sidelines etc, this is exactly what the doctor ordered. Will Mangini win? who knows..but at least we...the fans..can look down at the sidelines and know that every single play is being observed like its the last play of the game...and ever single player is being held accountable for his actions on the field. That to me is worth a year of byes for this staff.
Doesn't anyone realize how much the giants players hated parcells? Phil simms talks about it all the time. But he later admitted he was right when he left NY.
Exactly. Im sure when bb's days are over with the patriots...you will here more horror stories about them too. If you were to take players coaches and put them up against the so called non players coach...I would say the players coaches are way behind when it comes to winning championships in any sport. Only Joe Torre has a great resume..and for a players coach he has a couple hundred million to play with..and still doesnt take crap from players.
I'm reading "Patriot Reign" by Michael Holley, the former Pats beat writer for the Boston Globe. Only about 50 pages in, but Mangini will follow BB's textbook. When Bledsoe was pissing vinegar about losing his job to Brady, he was kept around long enough to be useful. Then he was dumped on Buffalo. And one of the things that BB learned from his Cleveland experience was to read the newspapers to understand what issues would come up at the press conference the next day. He reads a stack of clips in the morning when he's on the treadmill. So Mangini will follow the gameplan there and avoid having a tin ear when it comes to these issues. How well he does at addressing the issues is another thing. The jury's still out there.
"These players hate their coach." Who said it?....... Tom Jackson is who, in the direction of Bill Belichick right in the wake of the Lawyer Milloy cut and just prior to the longest winning streak in NFL history...Most of these media nitwits just make sh:t up in order to fill the space between their ears and the pages of their newspapers. They get stonewalled for access and try and seek revenge by way of BS storms like this... Players who don't like to work hard and take constructive critiscm will always hate and resent their coaches. Others who take things with a grain of salt and learn from critiscim are always better off in the long run. HOWEVER, if Mangini can't get results in the W/L column, that hardliner stuff starts to ring hollow and players will begin to lose faith. That can be disaterous. When you have a bad team, you really need to be careful with that.
As a follow up, Later after the Super bowl victory over Philadelphia the following season, Jackson attmpted to shake Belichick's hand down on the field in proximity to the ESPN set and Belichick kept his hand to his side, looked Jackson right in the eye and said F U. Gotta love it. That was straight out of "Patriot Reign" written by former Boston Globe coulmnist Michael Holley. so hear's to hoping that Mangini belly bops Rich Cimini under similar circumstances.... As Tony soprano would say. "There's plenty to go around for everybody."
Thats a horrible comparison. Mangini is quite the opposite of Larry Brown. Larry Brown was too public with his dealings with the team. Mangini if anything is too private.
As a side note, his old man died of a heart attack when Mangini was 16, so he better watch out. But I don't need him working out like Herm now!
