At least he is admitting that he is a problem, I really don't get his hate for this situation, does this guy think he is entitled to everything, the faster we get him out the better it will be for the atmosphere in the locker room, this team still has a chance to make the playoffs and he is thinking about himself.
Show me a better option that makes the team better with out risking draft picks, and I?m all for it. Until then I can deal with his being an over paid ass clown
Rhodes' attitude is simply insulting to us as fans. A lot of us are getting laid off or are taking pay cuts and we are subsidizing his million dollar paycheck for his ineptitude on game day. We already have Ghost for that. And at least he knows better than to twat about being unhappy with fans being upset with him. He's playing safety like Leaf played quarterback but getting paid like Polamalu and he's upset that we're pissed at him when he's twatting garbage?! Really? That being said, it seems like letting go of Rhodes would be rewarding him. Dude has to man up, mature and play like he is worth that big money contract. He sure showed that kind of talent before he got paid. I don't think that Rex will let Rhodes walk if the only cause is Rhodes' poor attitude and lack of maturity. It may give the appearance of rewarding bad behavior, and it would reduce the overall talent level of the team. I don't believe that anyone here thinks that Rhodes lacks the talent to play like a top-10 safety -- he's not Ghost/DSlob. FWIW, I fully expect Rex to do his job by laying down the law and kicking Rhodes' ass into line so our "star" safety plays like he's paid.
Alot of talk about Rhode's "near" pro bowl year and "potential". Guy was a top player on an average defense. He's now an underperforming player on a good defense that I think will build over the next year or two to be at least very good if not great. He has had the opportunity to step up his game this year. He has been put in the position to be a play maker and has failed to perform. He has not only shown himself to be incapable of backing up his hype but he has proven himself to be at best mediocre in the midst of solid talent and that is a generous assessment. Get what we can for him while he is still over valued by some in the league. We'll not hear from him again as a top contributor.
Cutting him doesn't cost us draft picks, and it frees up a roster spot for someone who gives a damn. Every time I see him half-ass a shoulder tackle, I keep saying to myself, "Ihedigbo would have wrapped up."
Ship him to the Saints for their 3rd this year and a conditional 4th that can become a 2nd next year.
Watching Rhodes and Smith so far this year, I'd have to disagree with you. Rhodes obviously has more talent, but at the moment he's choosing not to make the most of it. Smith's hustle is making up for the deficiency in talent and on the field he's more of an asset than Rhodes - at the moment.
Lot's of talent. Not much of a team guy it seems. If Rex can't bring him around, he will be shipped out for sure.
Look frankly I dont think Rhodes is going to get traded this offseason, this has been Rhodes first really really bad year, yes his numbers have been falling off but we know that this year he has been exposed in his toughness, frankly I give Rhodes one more year to show what he has got and if he continues to suck than by all means we can trade him for anything
Why cant he just shut up and go out there and play? We've all seen what he is capable of doing. If he could do what he did in 06 and 07 now our defense would probably be at another level.
I guess this proves he reads our rants about him. That's right Rhodes, take you big ass mouth and go be a problem on some other team, we don't want you.
It's not what he brings (or deosn't) on the field.. it's the way he's acting. Most fans hate players not because the play bad (shit happens) but because they don't give a fuck while doing that. Rhodes loves himself so much he thinks he is the best player in the world and who gives a fuck about the rest of the team. He is acting like Russell in Oakland, giving fault to his team-mates (last year he did that) and saying he is perfect and the world needs to change around him. In an NFL team, unless you are a guy as talented as Deion Sanders, that just doesn't cut it... you have to bring respect to you teammates, your coaching staff and the game itself before acting like a diva (take T.O., he's a diva but he consistently performs and HUSTLES on the field). The problem with Rhodes isn't the talent, it's the mindset... and I don't see him changing that until no one inside or outside in the NFL decides not to give a fuck about him anymore... then he will wake up and realize to be a successfull player you ahve to work your ass off every day. Until then I don't want to see him in a Jets uni again...
