yes he does but discrediting his two picks yesterday because they were "easy" is stupid no matter how much of an ass he is.
I can't believe people are knocking him having a great game. Yes, a great game, in response to his benching. I agree with the Shade sentiment that he needs to keep it up, and shouldn't be lauded for finally getting it done, but to other people who are knocking him for making "easy" plays, STFU because you just sound stupid. Oh, and the whole thing that he might like to be traded? Some douche on Twitter wrote that. Not Kerry Rhodes. But of course, a little reading comprehension is just too much to ask I guess. It's that time of year again. Time for me to start saying "This is why God hates Jets fans."
No, what you're talking about is the "life after football" stuff, which was quoted (by Glauber I think.) That's not what I was talking about. What people were getting their panties in a bunch over was something said by someone with the name @e_man on Twitter, where it said Kerry probably wouldn't mind a trade. (The only thing I now regret is calling him a douche, because I just read his blog, and he seems like a decent guy.) On his blog, he posted the following comments: Seems Kerry responded the way he was supposed to, and his teammates were behind him 100%, even the guy he supposedly threw under the bus a few weeks ago. Of course, no one who was ripping him last week will come around now to give credit where due. Typical.
One thing that does need to be said is, we need to see this Rhodes against Indy, Cincy and ATL. Real QBs. Delhomme is freaking putrid, how is he even a starter?
i still think Smith needs to start since hes a better run stopper. that being said if Rhodes didnt make the 2 INT's everyone would be saying thats why hes benched. you have to give Rhodes credit even if they werent jaw dropping picks he put himself in position and brought both down. enough said. especially in a game where your offense only puts up 10 points at the end of a game where you had 4 turnovers (obviously not counting Revis return TD)
One thing I disliked was seeing Rhodes on a field goal block unit. He was right in front of our EZ and he didn't make one single effort, he just stood there and walked back slowly. He was acting like a baby, and solidified that when he threw his first pick into the stands.
Completely agree except for one detail. I want to see him do it every week. Not just once in a while, or when he gets in trouble. He needs to take this lesson forward from here on out in his career. If he comes out ready to make the effort, he'll be a great player. Huge point. If Rhodes doesn't make those INTs, those drives are, at worst, still alive. Rhodes' interceptions helped make a difference in the game. What else did people expect of him? Actually, everyone is forgetting the near-sack he had on Delhomme, where he put Delhomme on his back just after release. So it wasn't just his two picks where he did something. As for Smith, I think they should rotate. Rhodes can get his starting job back, but Smith deserves to play too.
I have no problem giving him credit for making plays that any safety in the NFL would have made. I'm not going to go as far as say he had a great game though. Eric Smith OTH had a great game and deserves another start.
That's about how I feel about it. Kerry got into position to make a couple of impact plays, and I'm glad he did it yesterday. But Smith put in a very solid game and a couple of picks aren't enough to put Kerry back in as starter.
I agree. I'm not sure if Rhodes was trying any harder than before or Jake Delhomme just happened to come around at the perfect time for him.
i had a feeling someone would have a problem with that. i don't think that is a lack of effort so much as it is the coaching staff not sending everyone after every kick. it seemed to me that his job was to stand up and make a play on any possible fake.
During Revis' first pick yesterday, they were showing the replay from the angle of the Panthers' endzone and you can see at the moment that Revis made the pick Rhodes stopped running and started walking toward the sideline. That pissed me off, but I'm glad he was able get those possessions back later on.
Wow... Just wow! This backs up what I was saying earlier about Rhodes taking plays off like Randy Moss. This is dissapointing.
It was a weird play, a lot of us in the crowd at first didn't realize the play was still alive until we saw Revis running and the refs running with him. Of course, Rhodes was on, you know, the field and probably should have been aware if he wasn't.
From the angle I was in, it looked like the ball hit the ground and skipped to Revis' arms. You know how sometimes a play is dead, and some players are taught to play on thru as if the ball was alive? That's actually what I thought happened. That is, until Revis got to about the Panthers 10 and he had blockers ahead of him. I said to myself, "wait, the ball is still in play? wtf happened?" What pissed me off about that play is Coleman NOT getting a hit on Delhomme. You should always try to get a hit on the opposing QB whenever u get the chance. Let Revis and Ihegdibo(sp?) deal with DWill.
I can't blame a guy too much for thinking that play was dead. When I saw it from the stands, I was confused as hell, too. It doesn't look good, and sure, I'd rather see him running down the field after the play, but I can't get on him too much.
At first I thought that, but if you look there was another, faster guy with a bit better angle that he was gunning for, probably assuming Revis would outrun Delhomme. Plus, if he knocked Delhomme out we might have had a tougher game on our hands.
The only thing that upset me about Rhodes is after his first pick he went wild and through the ball into stands. I understand his happiness, but no other saftey in the NFL would react like that even if it was a rookie getting their first pick
Let's face it guys... Rhodes is and always will be a guy with a lot of potential that just doesn't have the mentality to be great but just adequate/more than adequate. Will he ever pull it toghether? Who knows... but for now thats what he is. Look on the bright side, at least he has potential... if he missed that as well we'd be screwed. PS ok he made 2 INTs (easy ones but he still made them) my problem with him (and I think Rex's too) is how he tackles! He's like a ballerina out there, every time he's one on one vs someone he gets pushed 5 yds back. On the play he hit Delhomme it looked as if he hit a brick wall and not a 34 year old QB. If I'm the coach I make EVERYONE (including lineman) tackle him once in training at full speed to show him how it's done. PPS I hope we can keep his trade value up until the end of the season and then trade him away for like a 2nd and a 6th. Maybe with time he'd learn to be a better S in Rex's D but right now there is too much money invested and too little results.
