This is the sign of a good team. When you draft BPA you build depth and develop those players to become contributors in the near future. This has been the Steelers MO for years and its been pretty successful for them (along with having the same DC for like 100 years). Bad teams reach for areas of need in the draft and let better players slide cuz they don't fill an immediate need. In time Kdub, Ducasse, J.McKnight, and Connor will be very productive members of this team. For Connor and McKnight that could/should be as early as this year.
He's taking Pouha's spot, not Jenkins. Pouha has earned his spot at NT. This kid is two years away from being a starter. That's why Pouha is here. People have to realize that the better a team gets, the rookies will take longer to make an impact because there are better players ahead of them. Reverse your thinking.
On top of that, when a team is garbage they're getting the premiere guys early. You expect a top-10 overall pick to be a starter. It's harder to find immediate-impact starters when you're choosing from the end of the heap.
You are absolutely right! A rookie will find it much easier to get into a losing team than a play-off one and anyone who doesn't realise that should really think hard before they start opening their mouths!
The last thing that Rich Cimini wants is for the Jets fail, because the number of readers he has and his station in career have flourished since Ryan arrived and the Jets started winning. That does not mean that he will ever place an overall positive slant on his coverage of the team, or even a fair one. He has a reputation for a reason. It has made him money.
And even when this team has done well, and it trades up for immediate impact guys, that also spoils some fans thinking. Guys in the late rounds who have done well here in the short term have also spoiled it for the other guys. Lowery, the Smiths, Coleman, Pouha. These guys have made the 3 season allotted time for rookies to breakout seem obsolete, when it is still the norm.
Not for nothing... but those two don't belong on the list. This was Drew Colemans third year, and Pouha was on year 4 or 5 before he exploded onto the scene when Kris Jenkins went down a couple years back. The guy you are missing is Matt Slauson as a bonafide late round pick blooming much earlier than expected, as well as blowing everyones minds by becoming a starter year 2. Otherwise its a great list.
Ellis needs to hire Jose Baez as his attorney and all will be well or the Jets simply need to win the superbowl this year then it won't matter if Ellis gets deported. Looks like the trial will be delayed so Ellis can help us win the superbowl this year and then he's a celebrity - he can go on Celebrity rehab - who cares - as long as we win that elusive superbowl!
