I know that. I knew that when he worked for the DN, but to call a just drafted KID a "druggie." C'mon, that's going a little far, even for him or for ESPN.
Oh, it's low. But not unexpected from that waste of bandwidth. He's been unprofessional for years. At this point, he is getting very good at it.
I don't do twitter. I don't even do facebook. Someone posted his tweet in the draft forum and I googled it and, sure enough, word for word, "druggie" was the adjective placed in front of Ellis' name. He just got fuckin' drafted for Christ's sake.
In this day in age where the prisons are maxed out. And would rather just toss you into probation. What are the chances he actually ends up in jail? Does anyone know that? Are they're anymore details towards his case?
Here's the article Cimini was referring to and a quote from his coach that makes it sound like self defense: http://www.dailypress.com/sports/dp-spt-nfldraft-ellis-0428-20110427,0,6620203.story "The one incident he had this past year - I think anybody in that circumstance would have done that," Hampton football coach Donovan Rose said. "Someone kind of approached him over a young lady. Besides that, since he's been at Hampton, he's a kid that's been a yes sir, no sir guy. … He has been – I'm not going to say a model guy, but he's been accountable."
No, but I'm guessing that since: - the "victim" had a baseball bat - the "victim" was trying to start something with a girl - the case is in Virginia ...the victim may possibly be white. That'll get it to trial, but I doubt they want the national attention with this kid a draft pick in the largest media market in the US. Probation at worst.
where did you come from? Young bucks like Kenrick will be kept in line by the veteran on the team. This pick has more of a chance of screwing his own life up before he could effect the Jets locker room! Mangini was a piss poor coach and Tanny is a God in comparison , So Lets move on!
The kid is no angel, but it sounds like there's plenty of fault to be shared in the "assault." Besides, now that he is a Jet, any shortcoming is going to be highlighted.
My bad. I usually just read and don't post, but Cimini's got me fired up with the way he presents the story.
I agree with you 150 percent. This is unprofessionalism and irresponsible journalism at it's worst. I know, I agree with the other posters, I shouldn't let it bother me because this is the kind of "reporter" he is, but I'm pissed, too. This is simply unfair to the kid. Then banding up a bunch of other "reporters" to ask the same, repetitive, questions is a joke.
No worries. We're all fired up. Also worth noting: the assault occurred LAST APRIL and isn't going to trial until July?
I'm guessing the Jets looked into the charges and determined that it was worth drafting him, I don't see them throwing away a 3rd rounder if they felt he was going to jail.
I know I'm harping on this, but I wish Rex, Tanny or even Woody himself would put a spotlight on this douchebag and ask him why he felt the need to put this kid down, on the day he got drafted to the NFL. This tweet should be brought to someone's attention in the organization. This is just wrong.
