Cimini got caught on tape, with a hot mic and camera, trying to stir up trouble. I guess Cannizaro bought into it. If this pick was in any other city, it might be a brief mention. It's a Jets pick, so they are just dwelling on it. I haven't heard a single question yet about Ellis on the football field.
Does anyone else think it's hilarious hearing the reporters who just googled him asking Tannenbaum about the pick like he did the same.
How does a reporter--especially one with more than 20 years on the job--call a draft pick a "druggie" in a tweet and not feel any ramifications on it? Unbelievable.
How many times are these reporters going to ask the same question? This isn't a damn trial... (at least not yet, anyway)
He. Is. A. Prick. He works for ESPN, the same entity that kept Colin Cowherd on the air after he spent thirty minutes trying very hard not to call John Wall a n*****. On live radio. Twice.
I am fucking flabbergasted right now. I know Cimini is as Same ol Jets fan as they get, but this is a new low. I would be astounded if ESPN just let something like this go. Did the Pats beat reporter describe Merriweather as the "helmet swinging madman in a full blown riot" when he was drafted?
Good grief... wait until we gotta listen to the fat man on the wfan about this. "Der ah like ah circus ova der" People get in fights in college/when they're young. But if this dude came at him with a bat and got it taken away, then guess what... I doubt he'll make the same mistake again. Valuable life lesson right there.
The Jets will bring their lawers to the table and bail this kid right out of trouble. Also the Jets are in the business of winning football games not being choir boys. With Bart Scott in the locker room and Barts house and Revis securing a pardon from Obama for Ellis I think Ellis will get to play - oh - if there is actually a season. Maybe he does time and gets out in time for the season to start - who knows.
