my bad. his 2nd year actually playing he BEGAN QUITE POORLY. Those drops aren't on anyone else. As you pointed out, once the season was post lose-all-for-Trevor, he played decent. In the end, despite the fact that I got fed up with him, I can respect wanting to give him more opportunities. Again, I am no defender of Gase or of Sam. But players also have to own up to their own individual perfomance as well.
I was convinced he was making the team. Another team will steal him off of waiver wire and he'll become an NFL STAR and this move will haunt us for many of years to come. I was super fired up about this kid. To keep either one of Jones/GRIFFIN over Kenny Yeboah is absolutely criminal.
get you liked him but come on. did you see his tape? can't block for shit. We seem to be focusing on blocking TEs mostly. obviously other teams weren't impressed either since he went undrafted. He likely clears waivers and winds up on the PS to try and earn a roster spot eventually. He has potential but pretty rough as a player
I'm cool with him getting cut. What I'm not cool with is Robert Saleh not only giving him the game ball after a monster preseason performance but then celebrating with him like he just made the team but to also make him give the postgame speech too, where he felt like he made the team and preached this is just the beginning? I'm not calling Robert Saleh a snake but if he were on the roster bubble? That's a snake thing to do to a kid. Shouldn't have ever gave him the game ball, should've never celebrated with him like he just made the team and should've never made him give a stupid locker room speech if you were just going to cut him only a couple of days later. It's business. Football is a business. I get it. But getting his hopes up like that should've never happened.
game balls in preseason and roster position have nothing to do with each other. the fact he was even playing in that game in the 4th quarter meant he was on the bubble. he knew this. he deserved the game ball. has nothing to do with cuts
it will interesting to see what happens w/ Yeboah on the most foundational level------ zero of 32 NFL teams thought he was worth DRAFTING i love a UDFA story, but i am emotionally unattached to this player. nuthn against him at all.
This kid is so humble and a class act. Even after being cut he just inboxed messaged me again on Twitter and thanked me.
Have you considered that Saleh might have wanted Yeboah and was trying to hint to the man that has the final say that his performance merited strong consideration for the final 53? Or that it was a recognition of how well he'd done even though he was unlikely to make the roster? Or that it might just encourage another team to give him a shot? I'm guessing not. In the end it is not the HC's decision who makes the roster. He had an input but outside of this there is little he can do to influence the final decision. This may well be one of those things.
Did you hear Saleh's press conference saying how hard it was to tell someone their dream of playing in the NFL might be over? Hopefully, that won't be the end of Yeboah on the Jets, but Saleh may have wanted to give him a special moment to remember if he doesn't get re-signed to the PS and no other team picks him up. Yeboah's hopes were already up that he'd make the team. Saleh didn't do anything wrong. He was rewarding the guy and genuinely happy for him.
Please. Saleh did nothing of the sort, not even remotely implying he made the team. Ken got the game ball because that was a key play of the game amongst back ups. It guaranteed nothing regarding the 53 man roster. Nothing.
That's cool. For me, it's always been about the UDFA Wrs on the Jets... Bobby Johnson late 70's early 80's. Chrebet, then Robby Anderson. Now, your alignment w/ Yeboah goes further as you tracked him through NCAA. I only found out about these guys during Jets PreSeasons and thought I saw worth/value there.
