Fair enough, I'm not saying he was Johnny Unitas, but to imply in that he had no heart or guts, especially in that predictably smug way of yours, is laughable.

Imagine how good he'd have been if he knew when to "chuck the rock."

It's also hard to base an 11 year career on a single play. By that logic you could point to his 95 yard TD to Wesley Walker and put him in the Hall of Fame.

Kenny was a great guy and loved him as a QB ( his back-up Pat Ryan was a great guy as well ) He would've thrived but the poor guy had a swiss cheeze OL.

For what it is worth...(and I may have told this story before)

I used to live in Manhattan Beach, CA. A few years ago I was playing pick-up at the local park. Mostly older guys, (I was 23 at the time). Teams get split up and since I am the youngest they decide to have me guard the tallest guy...not that that made sense.

Well, as we are playing one of the guys on my team asks me if I know who I am guarding. As you guessed by now, it turns out to be Kenny O'. He's got a mean jump shot and pretty much dominated me as I'm just under 6'0".

We joked around a bit and jawed a little bit back and forth and he couldn't have been any nicer. I mentioned I was a Jet fan and watched him growing up and then we got back to playing ball.

I saw him one more time a couple of weeks later at the driving range and he actually remembered me and gave me a head nod. Yep, face recognition and a head nod from Kenny O'.

    Well, that's my story.

Marino would have been just fine if he was the Jets QB. He had great footwork and there may not have been a better QB in the pocket. All that, plus his quick release. He would not have been sacked anywhere near as much as O'Brien.

Would the Dolphins have won a Super Bowl with O'Brien as their quarterback? I don't think so.

I agree that Marino may have done better than O'Brien with the Jets, mainly becuse of hs quick release and ability to beat the clock. Like him or not, he was a great Hall of Fame QB and I don't think that would have been too much different wherever he played.

On the other hand, I disagree about O'Brien in Miami, I think he may have won there. It would have been the perfect set-up for him--a great O-line and warm weather. The biggest things he struggled with as a Jet were the poor protection and cold weather. During his stay here we always had real bad finishes, maybe because he was from California, I don't know, but he never played well in the cold. Plus, as much as I hated Shula, he would have been better for O'Brien than Walton and then Coslet, who hated him.
