So wait, you'll base your opinion of him on meaningless preseason games, but if he is doing well in practice, it doesn't matter? You can't have it both ways. This coaching staff has shown a tendency to play rookies based on performance, instead of necessity because of injuries. If they think he's ready and are comfortable with him, that's good enough for me.
I kind of thought that Clemens was #2 in the depth chart already. In any case, if Pennington goes down and the Jets are in the thick of the playoff race, expect Ramsey to come into the game. If we are out of it, expect Clemens. I suspect that both QBs have been practicing with the 2nd team offense so they can be prepared for either situation.
This talk of Clemens being too short is absurd. He's 6'2". How tall do you want the guy to be? What is not too short?
I just looked up a bunch of QBs and heights typically range from 6'2" o 6'5" - Pennington is 6-3, Favre is 6-2, Trent Green is 6-3, Alex Smith is 6-4, David Carr is 6-3, Brady is 6-4, Losman is 6-3.... To me an inch or two is not that big of a deal.
First I don't believe he is. He is not even 6'1". Second Brees is one of the most accurate QB's in the league and had arguably the most talented team in football last year and didn't take them to the playoffs. I don't care what they have his height listed at, the guy looks like a shrimp on the field.
Way to early to think about trading Clemens. After next season at the earliest & thats if Penny has been healthy the whole time. That is still a big if at this point.
Clemens definitely looked shorter than Bollinger going by traing camp pics. Of course they can be misleading due to angles, but in every pic I saw with the two of them, he consistently looked shorter, maybe exactly the same height.
Ramsey should be dangled to Tampa Bay for a late draft pick. Even if all we can do is recoup the draft pick that we traded away for him.
That's a horrible idea. Right now in case of the (argueably) inevitable Pennington injury, we have a security blanket in Ramsey. If we trade him, we will have the rookie Clemens, Brad Smith, and a 6th round pick if Pennington goes down.
who are you talking about; Clemens? I always thought you liked him. With all the promise he's shown, how can you think that he will NEVER be our starter. If Chad does keep up his recent performance, he will eventually get old and lose it. OR, Chad eventually gets injured, and Kellen Clemens steps in and lights it up.
Well the truth is clemens is actually listed at 6'2, and brees at 6'1. Not to mention you can't tell me flutie didn't do a nice job when he played. And he was what? 5'10?
