The point being, in that spot you run the ball anyway because you are running the clock down so that the FG is the last play. The defense knows that, regardless of who the QB is. And at the time they didn't know his shoulder needed surgery, nor did anyone outside of the Jets themselves, and maybe not even all of them. Even if Curtis goes into the line for no gain it's better than taking a knee and going back a couple yards. If nothing else they could have at least centered the ball instead of kicking from an angle at the left hash mark. Face it, the coach made a horrendous call and the kicker didn't save his ass. But to you that's the QB's fault because you don't like him. Ok.
